A question back at you, Bret. If I applied to BAF| as a powerful wizard, casting fireballs at enemies and summoning dragons to fight alongside me, would you accept the character?
If not, why is this more ridiculous than a half-man-half-fox in the Discovery Freelancer universe?
Jesus, Haste. You need to lay off the Hearthstone (:
I really want a wizard character now, actually. A wizard who flies around in space, casting energy blasts at his foes. The ship would be an illusion he casts around himself to disguise his true identity as a vacuum-traversing magician of great power, and his "dying" is him teleporting back to his base of operations in an explosive poof of arcane energy.
you really sound like melvins when you get all anti furry. I mean wtf does it harm but your fragile self image and sexuality when you see a furry on the screen?
I hate em because i know so damned many of them.. you dont even have a single discarded hair on your shirt and you your all FINAL NAIL.
With the amount of sheerly laughable bs ON THIS COMMUNITY ive read over the year this is by far the most harmless.
What is harmful is your sour ass attitudes and your rejection based on a false sence of continuity.
No faction leader worth thier salt would turn down any rp intensive charicter with a shitory ont he forums. These charicters lead legitimacy that thier rp firendly ..
but if you reject that on terms of form or flavor. thats your personal business..
I think recruitment should be handled as an inRP process. If a character isn't accepted for whatever reason, I'd treat it as a role-play occurrence. If the character cares about the cause involved, they'll have to find other ways to support it. Alternately, if I really wanted to be a part of a faction, I’d write a character that would fit in with the requirements for it. Ultimately, joining a faction should be an outgrowth of a character’s RP, and one should flow naturally from the other. If it doesn’t, then the character’s likely not suitable for the faction.
Agreed. If I took Buster Commodore, resigned from the Rogues, and applied (as Buster) for the Liberty Navy. I would fully expect to be rejected. Hell, I would Expect to get rejected If I was applying for say Blood Dragons as well because of RP and Lore reasons.
But I think it is also fair if someone is rejected on the basis that their character is extremely far-fetched. A character should only be based upon a natural lore. If you have a half goat man applying for your faction then (depending how a leader feels about the subject) should have the say to make a human, nomad, character. however on the RP part of the forum it should be rejected with an RP reason, and then PMed the true reason for rejection OORP. How stupid would it be if I applied to K'Hara as a half woman half cheetah chick, using a picture of Cheetara from Thundercats, and having a character basis that I was a warrior cat lady that flashed forward in time into the Sirius universe from some far away planet and was looking for a place to call home? though that might be ok in some factions, it would not work with K'Hara.
@ Huggie, I think a persons ability to create a completely new character on the fly that would fit with lore and faction ideals is proof enough that a player is worth a damn at RP.
I've had people try and ask me if their everyday character in DSE could be nomad infected.
No, sorry. Can't exactly see how that can tie in and they expect their character to synchronize with the factions direction.
Cool thought, not likely to happen. Why? Because as a faction leader, I don't want nomad infected stuff interfering with the core of the faction. The inrp repercussions are not desireable IE if one is infected, they the navy/lsf would think we're all infected etc.
So say I had a Pony want to join my Rogues, I'd be like 'bugger off mate, only bulls allowed around here' because I prefer bullcrap to horsecrap.
It's my right as a leader to decide what sort of crap my faction is filled with.
I think that this is about back RP. Not saying "Your application is denied based on past RP"
But instead saying "Your application is accepted" and then saying, after getting the character into the faction "Also get rid of this past RP. I don't like it."
Or taking RP that a character has no way of knowing and demanding it's removal. Say my sentient 100% Libertonian beefcake John "Daisy" Bullock who has in the past had secret dealings with the rogues (Clandestinely supplying bullcrap for crop growing and politician coating purposes) and saying that that RP ahs to go because it doesn't fit in with the faction. The faction doesn't know, inRP, that John supplied the bullcrap that went all over the CEOs face at a press conference so they should not deny it based on that RP or ask for that RP to be redacted.
