Alas, there is now a firewall in place preventing me from accessing freelancer servers... grrr... since it's only there on principle for the less responsible it covers, I (and the people in charge of it) have no issues tunnelling through it; its just a matter of how. Suggestions?
Do you have Xfire? If so, go to the Servers tab in the main window. There will be several groups, Chat Rooms, Recently Visited, Favorites, LAN Servers, Friend's Favorites, and All. Click All to expand, then click Freelancer. Scroll down the resulting list to find Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7. I believe Xfire uses port 25999 (correct me if I'm wrong), and bypasses firewalls, as it does not use http or ftp. To join Disco, double-click the server name. Freelancer will now launch, and when you go to Multiplayer> Internet, it will freeze for a moment, then show Disco. Good hunting!
EDIT: If you don't have Xfire, get it now. www.xfire.com

well, that's exactly the problem.
real corporate firewalls allow you to use http(s) and block everything else with a very few exceptions (added one-by-one to the exception list if approved by network security). so 25999 is also blocked in our firewall :-(
Is there no way to tunnel freelancer through http?
Well, I went through this again and tried Xfire several times with several different settings, and it can't even connect to the xFire server. Alas. Any other ideas?

Hi,
the 1st works only with a mid server what we don't have - could majkp host one as well?
the 2nd might be interesting, they do support WoW etc, so I guess Freelancer could work as well...
