So im kinda new hero so my question is .
Is there any diffrence with what kind of miner you will mine aside from the cargo hold.
Will i get a better mining bonus if i use a hegemon rather than a surveyor
Mining bonuses usually depend on your ID and if you are in the factions mining field while having their ID. So for example the BMM Gold ore field in Dublin, people with BMM ID's will get a better ore count than those with Miner or IMG ID's.
Okay in this situation:
Miner A has a Hegemon and a miner ID and he mines gold.
Miner B has a surveyor and a miner ID and he mines gold.
Will miner A mine faster than miner B because of the larger ship .
What i really wanna know is Does it matter in what kind of a mining ship you mine
I just checked the minecontrol.cfg file and it looks like mining ships get the same bonus regardless of their size. My guess is that the main server is using the same settings.
However, the number of mining turrets hitting rocks at once does affect the yield. Meaning that a Hegemon with 4 properly arranged mining turrets would mine significantly more ore than a Scraper with only one.
Also, the Surveyor (Light Miner) can mount 5 mining guns so it may be worth trying out. It would be completely defenseless with that setup, though.
I think the small ships mine faster, because they turn faster, they see more rocks to shoot during a specific time window. More rocks to shoot = faster mining.
Well me and my friends are planning on setting up a mining operation but the hegemon is just toooo big for that field.
My idea was to use smaller ships because of turn rate and a huge Transport to haul the ore
If you are mining for others and you dont need any ore for your ship, then go for the Surveyor, or Arrastra(best option in my opinion).
If you want to fill bases with ore, or you want to mine and sell the ore yourself, take a Hegemon, but that will be slower than the Arrastra and very difficult to navigate(I hope that they buff the Hegemon).
Also, use the proper ID. Certain IDs have bonuses for certain factions. You can see them here
