Mining Ships

Well me and my friends are planning on setting up a mining operation but the hegemon is just toooo big for that field.
My idea was to use smaller ships because of turn rate and a huge Transport to haul the ore

The Hege may be large, but its good for indie miners who want to not only mine the ore, but also haul it.

Also: the Niobium fields in Tau-23 are a good place to get started.

That'll give ya a good setup for a newbie indie. Now, if you're planning to do a group setting, Jakarta station, close to the IMG restart spawn location, also offers smaller miners, and there are transports available in the nearby systems for this little mining operation of yours.

Be advised however, depending on when you're playing, T-23 can be a bit of a hotspot for pirates. Just keep an eye on whose online and what system they're in.

I will suggest a Hegemon. As -

1) It has a decent cargo size. So, can be used for hauling the mined cargo.
2) It has got higher number of turrets. So, you increase the chance of hitting the rocks a bit higher.
3) Turret slots can also be used to mount weapon turrets which can provide an inch of security while mining.

Hi there bud, you want a little help figuring mining ships and drop ratios out. Well im not the best, but I know a little bit considering ive been mining for 5 - 6.

Let me lead you towards an IMG ID and IMG IFF flying an Annapurna. I have had many people ask me how I mine so fast in that thing. Put it this way, I field 2 annapurna's and enough ore for 2 IC transporters. 1 was a 5000 cargo hold the other was around 4300. I mined that within 10 minutes over the passed few days.

Yes my setup is different to other peoples but it gets the job done quicker.


If you fly the Hegemon I tried to mine it in a Beryllium field not to long ago and it took me a while to mine and fill it up. I then used my Annapurna and it felt like I was mining alot quicker.

So maybe it just me or I find that the smaller the ship with the quicker turn speed miners alot quicker due to it seeing more "Moving Rocks"
