Make ramming dangerous

There is an absolutely ridiculous scene in Starship Troopers (1997)

The problem is, there is nearly everything ridiculous in ST (even I like it and played a game). Why the hell they did not just nuked Klendathu&P ?

According to the book, the bugs live mostly underground, so just nuking the surface wouldn't solve the problem. They began to change tactics later once they learned how to successfully go down into bug holes and attack/capture "royals."

Haven't read book, just saw first two movies, and played game (btw, not that bad game, if you liked those movies).

P.S. Actualy, would super intense nuclear bombardment turn planet into ball of molten materia?

I would highly recommend the book. Verhoven's film version was largely done as a mock/satire of the world that Heinlein creates in the book.

From a tactical and economic level....sending in 1 squad of mobile infantry equipped with several tactical nukes would be more effective than trying to arbitrarily obliterate a planet.

And yeah, one well trained squad can do much damage, with right weapon, leader and tacktics.

I remember in late 85, there was indeed, hull damage, by ramming, bypathing shields. It was turned off pretty fast.

Hmm, also, ramming, revised me about this guy.
How about making special ships for ramming? 5Ker size ship, mid BS hullstreigh, GB's firepower, low cruise speed, but pretty fast thurster speed (X3 thurshter), low maneuverability, but high forward speed, and survivability. Just one problem I see now. Who, except trolls going to use it?

Meh, ofcorse, snubs would die, of they smash into cap. Problem is.... how long it going to take to add this ramming&dammaging system into mod? I dunno about you, but, I have a feeling, that it's going to be another thing, which would steal attention from real problems.

Yes, snubs should die as soon they look at a cap, because caps are too cool to die.

Well... All I can see is carriers parked at the end of trade lanes. Accidentally of course.

This alone is enough of a reason why the ramming can't be balanced.

You never hit a BS/crusier with a LF or a VHF right? You survive, yes but there is a lot betwen that and "almost no damage".

It might probably work against caps, with minimum damage, but snubs vs snubs, you'll see your screen covered with red and blue messages.

I don't know if someone mentioned it yet, but the liberty dreadnought's nose was solely purposed to used to ram bigger capitals "tearing them apart" I can't remember well the reference.. long story short, balaning it would be a lot of pain, and not everyone would use it, but it can be used to QQ on forums
