I'm thinking of creating a Character/ship like a relief organization. It will primarily bring food/water/medical mission/etc to planets that have people who need relief (like UN?). I was planning of purchasing like a liner with cargo less than 3600 and a zoner ID so it would be neutral to all and can dock anywhere. The ship wont even have weapons because its a relief ship. It would make good rp stuff.
What do you guys think?
Sounds exactly up the alley of Zoners to be honest.
There used to be an organisation called Zoners Against Slavery that worked along similar lines freeing slaves for humanitarian purposes. Past that I think there's Med Force One roleplayed by Doc Holliday as an aid ship.
thanks for the tips guys. I was actually thinking alone the lines of bringing relief supplies instead of transporting slaves, although an occasional rescue once in awhile would be good.
Many years (like, seven or eight or more) ago, I believe on a different, long-gone server, I would often hear about and play with a Doctors Without Borders-esque faction, delivering aid and humanitarian support across Sirius to the endless, endless warzones and catastrophies that sprang up. It made for some excellent roleplay opportunities, particularly strong on the forum-side, but they managed to maintain a decent activity on the server as negotiators and medical experts moving pharmaceuticals, wounded passengers/VIP's, etc.
Nowadays, such a faction might be a little lacking in the PVP potential to garner a huge following, but I'd love to see your idea come to fruition. No doubt there's an endless well of potential RP to get involved in if you're capable and dedicated enough. Perhaps a Cryer ID if not the Zoner one? While zoner is more "open", there's a bit of stigma about it at times.
But yeah, every time there's a large incident/loss/endangerment of life, a relief organisation would have opportunity to flourish. Particularly with things like PoB destruction and slave trading etc. The fighting in/on Leeds could be a staple point of RP, and so on so forth.
In short - go for it! I'd like to see how it turns out. Hell, i'll even donate to relief organisations!
