O.k. SO ill bring it up again.
Attacking traders with a pirate char is totaly agreeable when giving a warning and a warning shot. Not responding is considered atempt to run and fire is assure to be opened.
So i asked Xerxas for 5 mils from each train ( he was using 2 trains ate the same time - for that later). He refused and i attacked. Later i destruyed one of his trains (got a full load of passengers). Eventually all traders hid in NY , and one of Xerxas chars was hiding docked in delta. He explained that he was playing with his other chars - actually he had 1 on (the other train) wich was hidden in NY. Then he logged on with yet another char in NY , so he could help some1 whit a transfer.

O.k I got to the point:

1) All traders need a reminder that camping isnt how u deal with atack of a pirate (only in NY it is).
2) I think that there should be a prohibition for using more than 1 char on at the same time! It's like a cheating folks - he makes 2 times more $$$ than everyone , and he can always excuse with the fact tha he is playing onother char.
There should be only 1 char active at a time. If u need transfer ask some1 !
I dont think that using more computers is fare to other players. We could all just use more computers... but I don't think that this is right, do 'ya?

P.S. Server today had some lag and i got disconected couple of times.

"Comm. Adama:
-Starbuck whadda 'ya hear?
Starbuck:
-Nothing but the rain sir!
Comm. Adama:
-Then grab your gun and bring in the cat!
Starbuck:
-Boom , boom , boom!"

- =BSG=Galactica ; Commander Lee Adama(Battlestar)
- =BSG=Helo ; Lt. Karl Agathon (bomber)
- Colonial 795 (trader)

Hi all...

Well, that multiple char - thing became popular on a couple of server.
On some server it is strictly forbidden, 'cause in real life you also can't be in different
places on the same time.
Other server-admins said, ok, do that, but remember the limit is 999.999.999 $...
So a lot of ppl. came to this limit quite fast and some of them lost fun to that tricky thing. (unfortunately caused that maximum cash in the end a lot of server-crashes -
just like the enormous number of weapons, some folks mounted on their ships)

Although it might be more comfortable to have two comps on (to transfer) - I'd prefer the solution of using one char after another - not at the same time.

At least I don't have to decide and I'm glad about it... I agree to "The Damned"

That's all I wanted to point out.

The other fact is: I can understand people doing it...

greets

Ruth

I agree that system camping should not be allowed. That's a cowards act. I gradually loose respect for people who camp to avoid pirates. IF you are a trader you must accept the risks involved. And i cant understand why people camps, as avoiding a pirate is the easiest thing of the universe. Space is huge. You can just travel over the system plane to avoid detection, or take different routes.
In all my time of trading i have NEVER found a PC pirate. Well, once. But he didnt catch me :P

But i disagree with limiting active users to 1.
You dont need a second computer to use 2 chars. You can run multiple FL if you log in from different user accounts in different windows users at a time.
I do that for transferring stuff to my holder char, or to take 2 chars at a time to the same place.
Also, i think that there is no way to enforce that rule as FL cannot stop a person from logging in with 2 different accounts.

I have to agree with Damned, Though recently I have noticed a trend towards pirates
and other chars camping in NY with a view to intercepting traders and others while
enjoying the protection of a no PvP zone. That is totally unacceptable.
Pirates I think should be plying their trade in the border or edge worlds. And if you are
trading you have the choice of safe, or big bucks. Thats just an idea, it needs thinking
about
Xersas is not the only person who uses more than one PC I think, but I believe he is
the only one who flys more than one ship at a time when trading, so double trouble
when challenged by the bad guys. That is his choice. Though camping with one to
get clear with the other is a little suspect.
I don't have the luxury of two comps, so I'm with Korrd on the dual accounts on XP
using his Account manager. Means you can fly only one at a time. but transfer easily
with two chars in the same spot. Nothing wrong with that.
But for now Pirates and everyone else should be able to challenge traders for a quick
dollar or suffer the consequences. Or just run and take your chances. If you have two
chars running, then thats your problem. Multi-tasking is not my strong point, I'll stick
to just the one at a time.

I'd like to state that one of these ships might be un-piloted. You don't need 2 computers to have 2 ships, just two accounts on windows running freelancer at the same time. I'm not gonna lie i've done the double train trick, but it is more hassle than it's worth in my opinion...

:P non the less, if you don't want pirates raiding ur ships, try paying players to escort you, just an idea.

What can I say, it's my own fault I've played with my good comp and burned the processor, so now I have a comp left that can run only one instance of FL... I need help even with some simpler things, but I manage some 10+ chars... so... the thing is I just can't make $$$ faster... :(

My input to this discussion:

I hate pirates.

Anyway, i use 2 windows accounts (which means 2 instances of FL) so that I dont have to pester ppl to trade stuff to other chars.

Trader camping? Well I see The Damned's point but if they are trading stuff across and talking to ppl they shouldnt have to come out of NY just because some *insert insulting word* pirate wants some cash.

Dual trains. Nice idea... I dont see a problem there. There is a risk running dual trains in the same computer. Ive learn that the hard way when travelling with my RH BS and my holder char at a time. the holder char broke formation and run into a planet. I didnt have time to switch accounts, it was all too fast.
I lost 700mill worth of cargo, weapons, and equipment. Like 300 superior nomad brains, 10 BS/cruiser shield geenrators, and LOTS.. LOTS of codenames and powerful weapons, like 3-4 pairs of each, let alone nomad weps and other stuff, like 4 mk7 armors. >>>>.<<<<

Wow Korrd that was brave to do that in the first place. And look what happened.
See people, just say no to 2 ships at once.... You see it makes sense.
