"I'll handle your sons on that one," Doc answered. "It's not entirely their fault as they don't know. They can only go on what they've been seeing."
He then touched the lump, "Um, Hilda, when we get things settled, I'd like to talk to you about your file and possibly an exam. But, that's for later."
Hilda nods slightly wiping her eyes trying to stop crying. She seemed to be holding something in her other hand it looked like a portrait of Gunter. She then mutters something in Rheinlandic before speaking.
"I g...guess... they are..." She sighs. "If only... Gunter... was here... he would know what to do..." She looks at his picture. "Gott... damn... why... was... even... on that shiff... he should have been been... on the Karlsruhe..." She starts crying again. "Doktor... please... if you need... t..to... examine me... wait until evening... I need... t..to... c..calm... down..."
If Doc kept feeling the lump on the back it would feel metallic and rectangular.

The item on her back had his attention but now wasn't the time to discuss it. He would learn more about it during an exam. For now, the time was right to talk with her two boys while she collected herself. Kindly excusing himself, he left to where the boys were.
He gave that re-assuring smile that was a staple of his and made the effort to shake their hands.
"I know it seems strange," he explained, "me being here but your mother asked me to come and I can only promise to try."
He sat in a chair at the table, motioning to the boys to also sit. "My name is doctor John Henry Holliday and yes, I am a dentist but I am also a family practitioner, pediatrician and surgeon. While mental health isn't a discipline of mine, my time at the Port Jackson refugee camp working with war torn families and children as a result of the old Kusari/Bretonian war gives me some first hand knowledge that no school can teach."
He slowed down a bit before continuing, "I can't bring back your father. No doctor can but I can help you two, your mother and hopefully Gretel. All I ask is for your patience, your cooperation and some time. You have my word that if there is something I can't do, I will find someone who can."
He took a breath, "Your sister is ill but in a short time she has made some progress. She feeds off of your mother and you two as well since you're older brothers. It's not easy but think positive and be gentle. We all need time and I will stay as long as I'm needed."
Doc then softly smiled as he looked at the two young men, nodding as he spoke, "Your father is here. He always will be and he is proud of you. Remember that."
Wilhelm looked at Doc with a slightly skeptical look. "Hmm... nien offence... but I highly doubt that you will be able to do more than the last five doktors..." He sighs as August almost looks like he is about to punch Wilhelm. "Wilhelm do you always have to be so... negative... Gott... you are always like this!" August said looking at Wilhelm with a slightly angered look. "Ever since Vater died... you have been negative..." August sighs and looks back at Doc. "I hope... that you will help Gretel... Mutter und Wilhelm... maybe it-" He was was cut off by Wilhelm. "Whatever..." He said before he stormed out the room, it would seem to Doc that Wilhelm has a temper problem. "Would you stop it Wilhelm..." August sighed looking around the room before looking back at Doc. "He... has his moments... unfortunately..."

"It's OK, August," Doc replied with a gentle pat on the shoulder and smile of understanding, "you have all been through a lot." He patted him again, "you leave Wilhelm to me. I can understand what he's thinking. I'll be back."
Doc then took an easy walk to where Wilhelm was. He was angry and understandably so. The loss of his father, his sister and mother not well. Doc stopped on the back side of the door to respect Wilhelm's space, putting his hands behind his back to present an open front. He spoke gently.
"Wilhelm, I'm not going to say that I know how you feel because I don't. I won't say that I understand as I'm not sure that I do yet. I will say that I care and that I see where you're coming from." He sighed but remained where he was, "I'm here to help. I'm not going to promise anything except that I will try. All that I ask from you is your patience and understanding as I will need your support. Only together can we accomplish a positive end result.....for everyone."
Wilhelm heard it but still was stewing. Doc then decided to head into his world a bit, "For what it's worth, Wilhelm, I lost my mother when I was 14. I know the pain even if it's a different circumstance but I do know that pain."
He sighed again, hoping only that his message was received and understood as he began to turn to the door for an exit so the Wilhelm could digest his speech.
Doc would hear Wilhelm grumbling to himself in Rheinlandic while August was sitting next to Gretel gently platting her hair a little. "You always had die most soft hair..." He said to her trying to get a response. "You know that we all love you... even if... our brother doesn't show it at times..." He looked at Doc as he entered the room "Let me guess... Wilhelm is grumbling to himself..." He sighs before he turns back to his sister. "Gretel... I know it's been hard but... we all want die same thing..."

Doc gave a light snicker, "Yes, Son, he is grumbling to himself. You know him well. I think he'll come around soon enough."
Doc then turned to Gretel, "So how is Miss Gretel this fine day?" He just gave her a soft smile.
He was a bit soft spoken in the morning so he was just gelling with the family a bit.
