Well, just about ten minutes ago, I launched from Gregory's Vederman's home on Cambridge, only to be immediately attacked by an onslaught of, what appeared to be, about ten Corsairs.
The explanation I have gotten (from what was an in RP system message) was that the OPG and independent Corsairs were blockading Cambridge in order to get Pharmaceuticals. I have a few qualms:
First off:
Cambridge is a bad planet to siege! It is the main source of food for Bretonia, and can hold out for years if need be. In my opinion, if the Corsairs should blockade anything, it should really be Wilkes Ice Field in Omega-3 to block all trade between Rheinland and Bretonia.
Second:
This is being handled badly, in my opinion. Whomever is leading this should give someone a chance to leave before opening fire on them. I had no clue about the blockade, and launched into immediate fire, and wasn't even allowed to run (I was chased all the way to the gate, at which point I lagged out...). The leader of the blockade should really give us a chance to leave, otherwise it is just being a prick (excuse my language).
Third:
Why would Bretonia ship pharmaceuticals to the Corsairs, their enemies? It really makes no sense to me. The Bretonians don't even actively fight Corsairs, they just defend their space and fight off whatever pirates come into their territory. Why would the Corsairs engage in such a giant strike? Shouldn't they be fulfilling the "Road to Rheinland" news casts?
Well, I have used the search button and gotten nothing on the matter. This is just my two cents.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
I'm not the leader behind this RP thing, but I'll fill you in.
A while back, an OTC trader, undocked from Cambridge research station, carrying pharmaceuticals, most OTC ships have junker tags, but this one, Ivan, happened to have a corsair tag.
The BPA, surrounded and CDed him, and demanded he drop his cargo. He refused, saying that Crete needed them. Then the OPG flew in and massacred the BPA for preventing a shipment of pharmaceuticals from reaching Crete. Since, the BPA has started posting bounties on all the Corsairs in Bretonia, and as a counter to that, we've been disrupting trade in and out of Cambridge.
We're not sieging Cambridge for pharma, we're sieging Cambridge as revenge for BPA's blockage on pharmaceuticals to Crete.

Road to Rheinland was already fulfilled, the RM beat the TBH in a war, and the TBH lost a Dreadnought.
As for a blockade of Cambridge, well, we would like some sort of communication out of game, you know? Regardless, I'm sure the QCRF will have something to say about it.
Quote:Juno Keitan getting killed in training apparently... in Leeds.... like 10 times.. during all this time when you see some 5 Corsair ships in Cambridge.
Seen that:lol:
I guess Juni and Mariko didn't notice that. Mariko is getting in shape again!

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
Personal time. That ship isn't set up to the BAF alert network anymore...and its getting a namechange...thing is an eagle with GC guns, I don't think I can serve as a QCP with it. Against my own restrictions.

We never shipped pharmaceuticals to Crete, the Junkers did and we have always had those policies on shipments headed to our enemies in the border worlds, or at least as long as i have been in the BPA (about a month and a half). You saved 1 smuggler, and now you decide to wage war on Bretonia over goods that have always been smuggled out of Bretonia?
If it was, say, the Gaians smuggling pharmaceuticals out of Bretonia I could understand some major retribution and then a withdrawal, but it was a Junker smuggler. Junkers are almost openly hostile to the Corsairs (you can take missions vs them from the Junkers at Trafalgar and Yanagi). Why would you risk so much in order to help people you can barely call neutral?
Also, how does this justify your dock-firing on me, eh? Last time I spent in Crete, the Corsairs gave enemies a warning to leave at least...

I was unaware of this.
Oh, there is a Youtube video on it. Quite a match, I must say. And I thought the Corsairs could win such an invasion.

When one sieges something, they are starving out the populace. Cambridge has food. It has lots of food. To siege it is like trying to demolish a skyscraper with your foot.

nothing again noone, but TBH vs RM was most on fighters fight, when i remember only 1 or 2 gb show in the fight and that was all.so it was total different as this.
First of all, the bounties were placed on the OPG for attacking the BPA.
Second of all, why do you think that any lawful organization would have allowed any criminal vessel to get away with any cargo?
Regardless of your excuse of whether or not Crete needed the pharma, the BPA was perfectly justified in stopping the vessel. It it the vessel's captain who was at fault for getting himself tagged Corsair. Had he been tagged Junker like all OTC traders should be, then there would have been no problem.
Finally, one of these traders get stopped and all of a sudden, OPG shows up and starts attacking the BPA. Doesn't exactly happen like that...
I thought that the OTC was supposed to be completely separate from the OPG and their corsair allies...after all, they are Junker tagged and carry smuggler IDs. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like the OTC are essentially Corsairs with a veil over their faces. Maybe it's the OTC that these bounties should be targeting in addition to the OPG.
