I mentioned something and noone responded.
Marburg posts and it got a reply.
My invisibility shield must be on.....let me turn up the volume:
StarScorn....you started this thread as a " What is your feedback on Harvesters "
To which, some people have replied.
When a person posts something like : ''You guys are a bunch of omipresent capship pvp / Cap ship whores'', the only reply should be ( in my option ) is : Your feedback and been recieved and we'll look into it.
Taking 'the bait' and presenting a counter-defences only takes the thread from Feedback and turns it into another Floods / Gripe fest.
No idea what this is all about now, and to be honest the admins do not write, nor enforce roleplay for factions.
That is up to the individuals to engineer, as long as it falls within server rules.
The rest, you -keep- to PMs please ...

I was initially very positive to this. It seemed like a way to create a small but credible threat to the Zoners.
My gripe is that now a bunch of Harvesters in cruisers seek me out and dictate my role-play. Seb has been relegated to either Harvester hunting/defence, or Harvester avoiding, depending on which ship he flies. Swapped the fighter for a bomber, since there was suddenly capships attacking those I'd escort. During trading, I can no longer kick back and play a goofed out Zoner on long hauls, since I have to watch for Harvesters all the time. (they are always on when I am, it seems. Four yesterday). I find it is no longer as fun to play my zoner char, as a direct effect of this.
Suddenly, being a Zoner is all about the Harvester bussiness. And that's not right.

I don't think so. The Zoners have had the advantage of having no enemies and entrance to almost all non-guard systems, because of their neutrality.
Now a powerful enemy was created, but where's the problem? Smugglers must hide from/attack police authority when smuggling, pirates must hide from/attack police/navy, and so on...
In my opinion the Harvesters are a perfect contrast to the Zoners.
Ventana, you are proving my point. The zoners unique position is a function of their economic and logistical importance. It gives a unique rp experience - not military powerful, not united, but with a credible threat of blockade fearsome enough to save your skin most times.
That is what makes the Zoners interesting. It's what makes it worth grinding through getting the IFF. It's what makes it worth doing long hauls in the outskirts with supplies, instead of grinding on in some power-trading loop. The Zoners bring something unique to Sirius, and this bussiness is destroying it.
You want to make them into just another faction that will need hegemony, organization and military control to be viable? Why? For the love of Eris, IPU, Bob and the FSM - WHY?

I understand your point of view. But my I attitude towards almost all thing is a system of balance. No thing can be without a counterpart. And thus the Zoners needed one.
Myself for example: wehen I started playing on the Discovery server I get myself a Zoner ID, because I wanted to get money. Money for what? Right, for other characters, that may not be in such a economically independent position, like pirates or police. This circumstance reduces the Zoner faction to the state of money collectors, because they have no real counterpart.
Now the Harvesters come into the game. Imagine, now a Zoner pilot may hire a mercenary for protection, or another Zoner with a fighter, bomber, cruiser or so. (All Zoners I know use freighters or transports.)
This is a big addition to the ongoing RP, isn't it?

I agree 100%. I have tried to say that former, but....
I would like to be tagged and IDed zoner, because of their neutral or friendly status to almost all factions, but after Harvester's threat, I stay to be a trader, pay pirates etc.
from the other side harvester's job is not easy... they are attacked all time by NPCs, so they don't have to much time to play their RP.
i saw it a few times as a junker char. there is always junk around them.
harvesters are trying to retrieve the Alpha Code, from the zoners.
the alpha code is what is needed for all the harvester units, and zoners have it, its liek an optronic data thing and they need it therefore they harvest zoners to get it,
Also corsairs are harvesters allies, OPG are the only corsairs they listen too, and if asked for assistance the harvesters will give it.
i hope this roughly explains what they do who they're with etc.
and yes i am one.
