lol and wheres the logic in that
"but but devs don't listen to faction leaders, they're awful"
"but but devs are listening to faction leaders, they're awful"
Logic? Gallia loses one battleship but wins the actual battle. They use this victory to push through Magellan and into California. But I mean, lol were da logic at?

Maybe he means wheres the logic in participating in an event where the outcome is predetermined.
Seems like it doesn't matter who shows up or what happens during this 'event' since the end is already decided.
LPI isn't invited anyway but knowing this bit of information.
I wouldn't want to go.

Because we know from the past that events like Royal Flush don't work on a scale like this. If you want random events make your own or discuss them with others next time. We're not changing something that's been in the works for months.
Helmuth von Moltke the Elder Wrote:"No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy."
Gallia massive Navy, rumored numerous enough to face almost the rest of Sirius in equal footing did not take into account the problems of supply and logistics into the Bretonian front line, nor the numerous guerrilla groups spread around the Tau systems.
In the same way, Liberty could have a strategy of being able to challenge two other houses (defending against two invasions? invading two houses at the same time? What were the goals of such strategy?), and yet they could have found obstacles that were not expected and could cripple their best thought out outcomes (too many Hessians to chew, Kusari embargoes on resources, Gallia cutting the links to Bretonia, too much rogue activity crippling internal supply lines, etc.).
It will be interesting how will the plans of both sides change after the result of the real battle is settled.
In terms of the Go game... Gallia pushing into Bretonia is like a lot of placed stones inside opponents territory, trying to contest it... but connections between these stones and their own secured stones are pretty weak, what may lead them into being surrounded and "dead" or captured. Trying to save them when it is too late would bring even more loses than good.
That's why every hasteful action in Go may bring a lot of stones lost, if these stones aren't secured enough. Everything scrolls down into careful management on multiple fronts, knowing where and when to go deeper to claim territory.
Otherwise, too much agression leads into downfall. That's why I have always regarded Go way more "realistic wargame" than Chess. It's more like playing a grand campaign.

Mischaracterization of the argument. People were seriously stoked because they thought they could all have a direct impact on the story line, with branching consequences depending on how well they did, i.e. succeed or fail.
However, if what Miaou says is true, everything's already been hashed out in advance by the devs and some faction leaders. People are disappointed because that's the exact opposite of what they were excited for.
And rofl, don't listen to faction leaders. Listen to people who have good ideas, not some (potentially) random dope who happened to inherit a seat. Not saying any of the involved leaders are that, but there is literally nothing to dictate who or what is an appropriate faction leader.

We internally discussed that events should basically have branches leading to other events depending on the outcome, but apparently it angers some people when things aren't pre-planned. Such is the disco life.
