just noticed I had 45 units of cargo hold capacity missing, and figured out that my guns and shield was taking up cargo space. personally I think the info cards should tell how much cargo space this will take up at the very least. but I disagree with shields and guns taking up cargo space. we are allowed certain classes of equipment.(IE a transport shield(a class 6 shield) cannot be fitted onto a LF) the ship in question has the appropriate sizing for the class of equipment its allowed to fit. which means it has enough space for the gun in the gun compartment housing and enough space in the shield complex to house that class of shield generator. Having ammo and whatnot in the cargo space I can begrudgingly see, but not really as it is needed to be stored with the weapon in order to utilize that weapon(IE you don't find machine gun ammo for any plane in the cargo hold. it has to be with the gun, ask any Navy Gunner's mate where the powder and ammo are for their weapon respectively
for the record I am not in the Navy, but a good friend was a gunner's mate, and he would tell old navy stories all the time at work.
