For me this still seems like a story line. A wonderful well played out very interesting storyline. I think the minimalistic, singlemindedness is great....great for a storyline, but I just don't think it has the breadth of potential needed for an ongoing faction.
I know that my voice might not be welcome and my opinion might do more harm then good but I will speak anyway.
The Machine Alliance is everything the Cylons should have been. They are wholy Freelancer. They are not canned or copied from the tellie. And they have succeded where we failed miseably. I am very impressed with the way that Scorn has layed everything out and by the superb RP that they are doing. I see no problem with the formation of a faction and support the eventual creation of a Machine ID.
As to the ratio of cap ships issue, with the permission of Scornstar (and if I have some spare time) I'd like to refit the Cylons as the defacto fighter wing of the Harvesters and shift some emphysis to the smaller fighters and bombers. Since I'm the only one left that won't be too hard. I hope I can live up to the Harvester's great role play example.
I am excited about this idea and glad to see that it's catching on. I just hope that you give them the same chance that we were given. Thank you.

This problem could be solved with a faction ID and corresponding ships. The Machine Alliance leading AI could reclassify the given ships to the members of the faction.

Ally with junkers bring the whole generic faction into a dangerous situation. Neutral is so perfect for us ! You bring metal to Bornholm, good for us, you dea,l good for us. Are we friend ? Not really you are just like the outcast, the corsairs or anyone else, a business partner, or a scrap collector partner but certainly not an ally that will turn the Outcasts, Zoner and LH unfriendly or hostile to us.

And what about the Order in the diplomatic database ?

PS : It could have been so simple to write "unfriendly with all lawful, neutral with the rest, and keeping your hostiles list". No contradiction and no confusion. Harvester would not be related to Junkers, you could keep the Junker ID which is a quasi-legal ID and just change the ennemies list on the reputation sheet.
Ok, while your suggestion is good i still did something different. I made an unknown section under our hostiles list. Everyone not mentioned spesificlly will is considered there. I intend to monitor our politics often and upgrade them. So, while I know what you said makes it easier, I want to have it this way so our recruits can refer to it and gain understanding of who is where in our scheme of things. Thanks. I may change it again later as I am sleep deprived now and probally crazy.

now my brain is just full of ideas how a fleet of newly designed machine ships could look like ( mixture between "dune" guildships/frigates and the "alien" freighters ( i think its name was the nostromo? ) - but we re far far far from that point.

I have a team of hard working buddies to thank for this and my main task has been PR and cordination. We just dont have a ship designer yet.

"Balanced" BHG gunship.... I don't really see a reason why you should be using it - you have nothing with Bounty Hunters. Replace it with the IMG gunboat I would say.

Salvaged? - well how much and what exactly you mean by that? Since you can loot just about any lvl 9 in the game from wrecks

On the other hand... Talarcas fit nicely.
And you can have as many as you want.... but what I do not like is if there are too many of them at the same place, if you are doing something in a larger group you can surely make it 1 Talarca, 2 GBs and maybe some fighters/bombers. Instead of 3 Talarcas in a house system.

I don't really care about shiplist and equipment, I think you can handle it.
Now, I don't want to militarize. Still, you are having fun, others are having fun, and a game is about fun.
As long as at least factioned (and registered?) Zoners can get hold of the 'override' to use as a in-rp opt-out, I don't really have anything against the Harveys as a element of Disco. I can trade back my bomber to a escort fighter and resume bussiness as usual, after all.
But: the Zoner->Order->Corsair->Harvester relation really needs to be clarified.
Order and Zoners are allied, and the Order are sworn protectors of humankind.
The Harvesters are non-humans that openly attack Zoners and harvest humans that are precieved as a threat or obstacle (which is quite different from shooting down and dumping in prison, for example).
The Order must know - would this not make the order hostile? The Order and Zoners have a lot of cooperation - see for example the research complex in Omicron-74.
And then... Corsairs side with the Harvesters? This is strange, seeing that this would make them at odds with their closest (in terms of distance) allies, and the ones that are actually providing them supplies like food.
Only an all-out Corsair war against the Order and the Zoners in Theta could make this fit, and that, imnsho, would be a very different storyline.

Unfortunatley IMG Gunship woould not fly either due to the their hostility with the =CR=.
To be honest Scornstar I am liking all the answers I see so far and your responses have been well put. Let's try clearing up this relationship with zoners, etc and the weapons/ship list and you might just have one more yes.
