Well puting POB inside of mining field is a bit not good desision as miners mining there and 1 mining weapons can hit base, that will activate shield and miner will be shot by bases weapon platform. That's why i want to place base 1k away from field.
+ if base near mining field it will use as cover for miner. So he cna mine and not afraid of pirate because weapon platform will shoot him.

I say 10k-15k. Anything less doesn´t help much to solve the problem if weapon platforms can be placed 5k (or even more, I don´t know how much is it exactly) away from base.

10k is more than adequate to solve the problem of miners insta-docking. Also makes the direction of approach a more tactical affair for pirates - they'll need to loop around and approach the field from the direction of the base if they want to achieve anything.

I couldn't place weapon platform on 1700m and you saying 5k

I guess it was finally changed then. What is good because it was stupid how far from base itself platforms could be placed. However 10k should be minimum anyway if intended goal is to prevent scheme of "miner see red contact > miner docks on POB before red contact has chance to get in range" (and optional > "miner re-logs to another ship including capships to shoot the red contact and then continues mining.

For gameplay purposes, that means open result, tense pirate-miner/trader interaction, no POB should be allowed to be closer than NPC bases are to mining fields. And that is roughly ~ 20k k. That's the distance that an armored miner can perhaps run to base, it is a distance which gives both parties a chance to win. The running time is long enough to allow reinforcemnts to come in and to make it a meaningful pvp encounter instead of a "meh, no chance, might as well not do it".

Agreed on distance. As a BMM, I tried to mine in Dublin. One of these shots hit the base and I had to withdraw from the area and now I can't mine there as there are no server restarts anymore (I believe). The base is still red for me, that's why I confused a bit.
