The Offensive in Leeds: RNS Oubli destroyed!

Major victory for the Allies on the Leeds front!

The Liberty Navy today breached the front in Leeds in a daring attempt to strike at the Battleship Oubli, which is considered to be the Gallic centre of power in the system. The Gallia Royal Navy was caught by surprise, and had to reinforce the battered Oubli defence with units stationed at the rear of Leeds. Their defenders managed to push back the Liberty Navy advance for almost an hour, dealing heavy damage to the Libertonians, before a surprise attack by Liberty forces utilising the newest in cloaking technology finally pushed through the line and delivered the killing blow to a weakened Oubli.

While the operation in Leeds was an enormous success for the Allies, the capital ship losses incurred by the Liberty Navy are estimated to be in the double digits, bringing one to question the scale of the victory. We can be certain of one thing however: this is the first major military success in favour of the Allies so far, bringing a much needed morale boost to the embattled people of Leeds, and showing to the entire Sirius Sector that the Gallic military can be defeated after all! Liberty Navy Press Release

A glorious day for the Liberty Navy, the citizens of our great house, and all those in Sirius who do battle against the Gallic menace.

This afternoon, our forces massed an enormous hammer-blow aimed at the center of the Gaul forces occupying Leeds. I cannot give exact numbers, but our attack force included dozens of capital class warships from each of the Liberty Navy's fleets. We descended on the Battleship Oubli, meeting stiff Gallic resistance.

After a fierce battle, the Gauls pushed us back, but not before several of our ships managed to slip behind their defensive lines and score critical hits on Oubli.

We retreated briefly, massing our remaining forces for a final attack. Even diminished, the task force was truly massive.

Vice Admiral Lambert, aboard Arizona, took a wing of ships on an indirect approach from the left flank, while a larger group under Captain Morse aboard Durango approached under cover of cloaks. Admirals Teerin and Sius led the fighter/bomber contingent into the fray.

Many ships that entered the fray in that final assault remain MIA, but a number of Gallic kills have been confirmed - including the Oubli herself.

Thanks to those brave souls who gave their lives on this day for Liberty and Bretonia, we have achieved victory in Leeds. The Gaul advance will end here!

The LSFC Kitty Hawk was doing a sensor sweep of the combat zone at the start of the operation. The Kitty Hawk was to remain out of the battle, but when the final push for the Oubli's destruction began, Agent-in-Command Celia Fairbrook "Baroness" O'Maley ordered the Kitty Hawk forward in an attempt to bolster the Naval forces strength. Unfortunately, the debris from the prior engagements left the Advanced Siege Missile system aboard the Kitty Hawk useless, and at a disadvantage. Though she held her own valiantly, the Kitty Hawk succumbed to the same overwhelming force of the Royal Navy that the Liberty Navy had already lost so many to. Though the sizable debris field in orbit of Leeds makes it difficult to discern for certain, the Kitty Hawk's destruction is hard to deny based on the feed footage our drone system had provided, as well as the Kitty Hawk's bridge feed.

At this time, all 207 members of the Kitty Hawk's regular crew, as well as the 16 S&R staff that were aboard at the time are MIA until confirmed otherwise. This, along with countless other similar causality lists, is the price the people of Liberty paid just to sink a few of the damned Gaul's Warships.

I sure hope it was worth it.
