You can go outside your ZOI. Who told you that you can't? Nomad ID is the only ID that actually can't leave their ZOI.

I think you don't seem to understand what exacly "lore" means. It's a setting and set of rules that you need to follow. That's why, for example, in The Witcher you can't create character spawning fireballs around.
Roleplaying requires knowledge on the setting. Else you are like a child in the fog/dark, hitting the obstacles all around.
There's a reason behind every inRP action and story, for example why Samura is not powerful anymore, why Rheinlanders aren't too friendly with Libertonians as they used to be or why Junkers are banned in Kusari. I had to learn in a hard way.

Does a guy RP'ing a simple company trader need to know all the lore of sirius? Does he even care? Does a guy playing an honest hard working miner really need his character to be well read on the history of the universe? And would my pirate character really give a toss about anything like that in the first place? Nope, he likes looting and plundering and saying yaaarggh!
Often a common flaw of RP characters isn't what they don't know, it's what they DO know. Common soldiers/pilots are not party to the greater machinations of government or high command. Most company employees have no idea what goes on at higher level management or behind the boardroom doors. Unlawfuls couldnt give a toss about most things that don't directly effect their income. People get on with what people do. I have too often seen RP in games where characters seem to know all there is to know about the lore of the game setting and take great pleasure in constantly demonstrating that to all and sundry, even when the character they play would have absolutely no idea about such things and very little interest.
I get your point. People need to know things if they are going to RP certain characters. They just don't need to know everything. And even if they do, they should certainly not be displaying it if it doesnt fit with the character.

You seem to misunderstand my answer in the topic. Of course, you don't need to do that, if you are aiming for certain characters. The points the OP pointed out however are the BASICS. Character is restricted to the roleplay knowledge, but ooRP basics are MUST KNOW.
I was refering to the playing as a faction member. So, the long story short: if you are going to RP as The Order, you need to know The Order's lore. If you are going to RP as Ageira, you need to know their lore and some facts, like you cannot fly in Gallia.
As for the other question, if you are trading inside a house, you NEED to know House Laws. Else, you'll end up being fined and shot down. And no one else can be blamed for that - but you alone.
It's all okay, Von Richtofen. We all make mistakes. Even I make them, because until some time ago, I didn't know that every unlawful faction in Rheinland is rather pro-Corsair.

wrong nobody says u cant go into any system the only thing is u will most likely be targeted by lawfull roleplay (if u have any sort of pirat/quasi legal/navy id) and pirats well better check were u have the rep of those 2 big blocks (outcast/corsair) . So be prepared to roleplay .

spot on, think about it, each char doesnt need to know everything, most of mine dont, and thats how i choose it to be, although i do know alot, my choice is when in a char, he doesnt "need" to know
i played on a vanilla server for a while, and i can tell you the results of simplicity - boredom. And when kids with guns get bored, the rulebook goes out of the window, creating a situation where a giant meta-clan of unlawfuls ganked the smallest clan (shout out to the WT) who tried to act as protector to the trading ships. Can you imagine undocking every time into a furball again and again? you're right, it was epic, but it was also kinda shallow. just fighting, no talking. mine spraying, and cd killing.
what you're actually feeling is the difference between studying and learning. Studying sucks. Read thousands of pages of text before you fly a ship? (well, that's kinda realistic but this is a game, right?) However, learning is fun. I learnt how to drift fight. I learnt how to drift dock a BARGE. I learnt how to drop mines and use them as an ambush. I learnt how to carry profitable and highly illegal cargoes so that the pirates left me alone (mostly). and all through actually doing.
don't get stressed out about getting slapped down. it means that you are pushing your success rate to the maximum. "If you're not failing, you're not trying hard enough" - Elon Musk
I've been trying out this mod for two weeks. I was audacious and wrote a terrible origin story and after a little gameplay took it down. I just recently replaced it with an updated story for another character. From the point of view of a noob to all this, Yes it's overwhelming. yes it can be fun. I only just realized I can have a LPI iff and a freelancer ID, resulting in suspicious and nearly hostile Rhienlanders. I was in Corsair space with a Corsair freighter and a freelancer ID but didn't realize I'd stepped on toes till staring at cruiser guns.
Sindroms's youtube vids help with a lot of these issues. I think more of these player made and thought out vids would save a lot of noob losses. I'd perhaps suggest adding links to community vids or atleast majority approved vids for noobs. Having played the vanilla 10 years ago and only just picking it back up it will take me a while. I don't even have a grasp of weapon grouping yet, much less drift fighting or barrel rolls in a game with no obvious roll feature. I presume that's side drift and pitch but I digress, there.
In the Corsair experience the Player was as accepting as could be while still RP. At first he demanded fines and relinquishing coded guns. I didn't even know what that meant. He was frustrated because I couldn't drop a weapon that was equipped, still don't know how. He decided to order me out of the system and as I hastily complied I did my best to remain RP will making it clear my pilot had only been flying for a week and was ignorant, though not exempt from consequences. After I left the system He forwarded me 5million credits toward another ship explaining that my setup would get me harassed and fined and more from all factions. This was what kept me on here. I returned the credits as soon as I could afford and I've been experimenting with different character starts and ship classes.
I am getting bored with NPC things but my likely time to play is around 3:00 - 9:00 UTC server time. not many players to interact with at this time. Most are grinding their bank characters and tend to go light on the RP. half the people I say hello to don't respond. I play; Whirb, Phil.Drontu, and Loam'sOleRusty- formerly Loam.Tervuna in the unlikely case you want to look for any note of my activities.
The game is great. there really are a ton of possibilities. the problem is life. In the real world we have problems all over. Sometimes we run from them. in the real world we may move to a new city to escape only to have similar ones develop. this is why so many of us move to this world. Just like in life those problems seem to follow us.
I believe we create some of our problems with our attitudes and perceptions of so called reality. If something bothers me about someone I likely am reminded by their idiosyncrasy of something I don't like about me or my life. This is why I believe so many people become trolls or recluses or hyper critical.
My Rambling point here is in my humble opinion, The game superstructure and base aren't broken. People are. The only reason I'll continue to play at this point is because someone wasn't hardcore unforgiving RP like they had every right to be and saw a new player for what he was and lent a hand.
Suggestions:
Create more engaging beginner content such as videos and perhaps several books in inventory, a book for basic trade, pirating, and faction politics? at least allies and enemies of the official factions? I could go on and on but I think I've probably rambled enough. I enjoy the RP content you've all done. I hope to see more as well as be more. I hope Y'all have a good night.
