Lawful and Unlawful Weapons.

so After much consideration, I decided to go with a Guardian for my Ship.
And looked for weapons all of 600 speed in order for my aiming to not be screwed up.

Now I RP as an Ex-Bounty Hunter who brought tons of criminals and etc to justice.
So say there is a BH in Omicron Theta and he encounters a Corsair Craft, and manages to gun it down...
Say a Weapon Drops and he tractors it in, It is better then what he has, would he not equipt it?

Now there is also the fact that "Anyone can shoot down a Corsair and get it"
But the Bounty Hunter's job is to hunt pirates, its needless to say that there is atleast some weapon drops amongst however many he kills or imprisons.

so after getting the Loadout of two Tizona Del Cids, a Codename, Some Nomads, and a ever-changing turret... I talking to Adam Carter AKA. Missile Monkey. He had told me that lawful weapons are sanctioned to be on lawful craft, and unlawful weapons on unlawful craft regardless if Roleplay can justify it being there.
Is there such a rule?


And also, If there is a logical and completely justified Roleplay as to why you should have something, would it not be alright for that?
Provided that it isnt just for capwhoring with an Osiris or something...

Bounty Hunters equipping unlawful weapons is a no-no, check the many sanctions on the boards for just such acts, besides Reavers and Buckshots are rutting awesome. Also try getting a better ship the Manta is a good 'un. Bounty Hunters tend to stick with their own stuff due to it being designed to fight the criminals we try to catch.

Well seems i've been dragged into this now, we are talking about a LSF agent going around with Corsair guns, now even if you had been a BH then if you start a new job you dont take them with you.
Its like say you used to work in a Butchers and then moved to a School would you take a meat cleaver with you to class?

the rule is to stick as closely to roleplay ( the generic roleplay of NPCs ) as possible while bending the rules towards your personal role as much as you can while maintaining the general picture of the NPC faction.

in particular that means that a lawful character who defected from faction A can, when its down to his role, indeed bring the equipment with him. - but that means to bend the roleplay of the NPC faction a lot. - NPCs do not leave a faction and join another one. - so NPCs never bring their own possession.

NPCs "think" that the weapons their own faction produces is the very best possible for their needs ( even if we, as players know, that they are rubbish ) - furthermore, a character hardly ever knows the "stats" of a weapon.

now when it comes to weapons. - when you purchase a guardian, you sort of subscribe to the navy, cause its a navy ship. - with the navy comes a contract ( usually the ID ). so now you are flying a navy ship - and have a navy ID. your bounty hunters days are past.
along with the new navy ID comes a responsibility ( in-character ) to represent your new employee. - so ... your character would most probably think its inappropriate to display a full array of pirate crafted weapons. - cause it basicly says "allright, i m in the navy, but your weapons are crap, so i got these ones that happen to be crafted by murderers and criminals, but .... tough luck, they are better weaponsmiths than you are."

cause your char doesn t think that way ( most probably - cause why else would have have gone to the navy ) - he ll try to aquire something that is in line with the lawful weapons of his faction.

but even as a bounty hunter.... he may collect a lot of weapons, - but he ll still think that buckshots / reavers are THE best weapons to counter pirates, cause they are fresh from the developement laboratories and made to hurt the pirates as much as possible.

another argument to drop such weapons is.... once they re damaged, no one in the navy can repair them. - and you won t wanne ask the imprisoned corsair to repair your colada.... .

I have a very good reason to not use the weapon of the ship you've just blown up. You have the better weapons otherwise you'd been dead. And if you have not, your piloting skill is far better enough to not have to use other weapons because even with the worse you are the best !

Well there is always the fact that weapon speeds taken into account...
Moreso I needed Shield Busters to match weapon speeds. And that was pretty much it.

If I would say, Juni, King, and even Marcus had kept most of their belongings and fled to the Order. More "Alive" NPC's would do that...


But I see your point, There are a few exceptions but overall ive come to the conclusion it would cause to much trouble...

PS. Would there be a weapons list of the fighter weapons added into the game?
I can't seem to find any good weapons(Unless I want to lose to a Starflier...) with similar speeds, in order to not conflict with my aiming.

Well I may not be the most knowledgable person here, but Bounty Hunters have to think like criminals in order to catch criminals right? Why don't they use their own weapons against them? After all, isn't that thinking like a criminal?

While Bounty Hunters are considered lawful since they hunt criminals, they are not sanctioned as a lawful guild, since House Authorities hire them to do their dirty work, regardless of how its done, that is a bounty hunter.


RP wise, I don't see it as a crime to use pirate/corsair weapons, as long as it gets the job done.

To true Fletcher, and there is always the fact that one or two pieces of equiptment might suit your liking...

Say a Bounty Hunter had his guns and what not, They have no shield busters in their entire weapondry.
And I am sure to notice that after fighting many he would know they had some type of weapon capable of doing heavy damage to shields.

Moreso, it came to my mind that the Sunslayer Torpedo Launcher is only sold at a "Pirate" base the Bundusch.

And as Jinx said, It would look bad for the new employee's~However would it be a hastle? Moreso, I am sure FP9 in Theta may have someone to repair it, an RP wise the Zoners are friendly with Corsairs, It may cost a bit to have mantinence done.

As for Missile Monkey, What use would I have taking a Meat Cleaver to class? I have use with the weapons because I will use them.

@Fletcher:
this point of view would be perfectly fine......... if the BHG did not have their own weapons. they do have, and mind you - they are pretty much among the best weapons available. ( and i would rather use buckshots than the 600 m/s corsair stuff )

now, they do not have their own capital ship weapons, which is a problem - but then..... you cannot loot those weapons anyway - sooo, problem solved:laugh:

edit: if the BHG weapons were like the gaian weapons ( utterly poor ) - then there d be a reason, but still.. i wouldn t really do it inRP. BHG ships and their weapons go along quite well. - now... mercenaries is another leaf. - more freedom, but also more responsibility.
