Right, before you read further, please read the whole post. It is very obvious when you skim over the first paragraph get triggered and write your reply and it becomes obvious that you did not bother to read through it. And then you look like a mong. Don't be a mong.
Discovery Freelancer is a roleplay community. The server is a PVP server with roleplay elements. One compliments the other. They make up what is Disco.
However, with all this talk about balance, gameplay and other such game-related topics, I am surprised that nobody ever bothered to make the following thread. Are you, if you are more skilled in the pvp aspect of the game, entitled to come out on top?
Before you get triggered too much, this has got to do with what Disco is about. Competitive games such as DOTA, SC2, CS:GO have an easy reply: If you are better, you should win. That is the point of competitive gaming. However Discovery Freelancer is different.
We are focused on the roleplay aspect of a game, not a game itself. Discovery is in fact Microsoft Freelancer PC when it comes down to the technicalities, but it is not what we are here to do most of the time. We are using the game as a PLATFORM for our community. So when it comes to the more competitive aspect of the game, should we balance the game after skill or rather gameplay instead?
All players, regardless of latency, skill or age are all dumped into the same pool of players, something the above mentioned titles do not allow you to do for the obvious reasons. This forces us to work with a highly unbalancable mess of variables. People who are bad at the pvp aspect of Disco want to be able to avoid such interaction or at least to have game mechanics where they can survive them if needed. The people skilled in pvp want to show that skill and that is only fair.
But something that I've noticed during the last feedback thread qq was that people good at PVP think they are entitled to get out on top, because they have spent so much effort into making it to that level. Okay, fair enough. But in that case, shouldn't players who are bad be protected and be just as well within the right not to become yet another statistic for the former?
If you are good, do you have the right to win?

Everybody has the right to win even if they're bad (they just won't win).... If there are too many players with PvP fetish then just make a contest for them... 1 v 1 contest...for example all those who want to participate , sign up on the forums and then random players get matched up against random players, and that continues until only one player is left (the winner), those who lose cannot participate anymore...that should decide who is the best.

Also, "ganking" in, for example Dota (the term doesn't even exist there), simply means you're caught out of position or didn't back when someone told you to, while in freelancer it's popular to qq to the "ganking" side even though chances are you were also caught out of position or didn't get out in time.
In my opinion, I don't think you should expect to win all the time, no one is entitled to give you a fair fight, but since PvP is such a big aspect, if you won't give "Fair" fights, you won't expect more PvP instances from the other party, as they would just avoid you or do as I said in the paragraph below.
This might be good for some, but also bad for some, as sometimes people fly for PvP only or for the RP and then the Pews after, If you make the opposite party mad because you brought a Gunboat against 3 Snubs when you already had 3 Snubs at your disposal, expect them to do the same, such as bringing a Battleship and two Cruisers against two of your Battlecruisers. And the cycle continues on and on, creating these ridiculous ooRP hatred and grudges, making both sides avoid each other.

That's because in DOTA and other MOBAs, you're supposed to work as a team, that's why you have two people in the bottom lane(LoL Meta)One is a support role that is supposed to support the Carry, while the Carry does it's job in being a Carry.
But Freelancer isn't a teamwork ONLY game, you can fly Solo, and it's not fun when you fly Solo and get "Ganked" by multiple Snubs or something that overpowers you.

May the better win. At least in the discipline they are better at. Would it not be unfair otherwise?

Deep inside me, I would like this to stop. Unfortunately, if you gank some players one time, half of them won't show up the next one. That is why we shouldn't gank. I'd rather if those people grew a pair, but I can't influence that.
One thing I mind a lot though, is that people often log in masses for the winning side, after it starts winning. Victory of the better is just; this is only selfish.

That's also true, but the whole point is not to spread ooRP hatred, which is not easy especially when you're pissed off in that situation.
