It was in 2010 or so. (Check @JohnWildkins for the join date). I came in with a few friends, we all restarted as outcasts, and some guy taught us how to take missions. We spent the next little while in our light fighters, trying to do missions, while a guy in a Bomber flew with us. We were amazed.
Came back in 2013. All I remember is grinding up to the Bison, and getting an Ageira ID so that I could powertrade trade lane parts to New London because it was the highest profit thing I found in New York. I quit a few weeks later.
Came back in the early summer of 2014, joined up with DSE and [LN], and the rest is history.

I just wish I'd have the same .86 feel while flying around Crete like I used to. "Man, Corsairs are cool." - not "Man, I wish the Corsairs were an actual faction."
I do that every year now by doing a Let'splay.
Start of the year, new account, then just play up to a med transport and 100mil in networth.

Waaay back in 2008 when I joined, I traded a bit to earn some credits for a new ship and then I decided to help the Navy and the LSF in Liberty against 2 Rogue battleships which were constantly creating trouble back then. I started to shoot at those 2 battleships in my fighter without paying attention to the Navy and LSF warnings that I couldn't scratch the things. After 10 minutes I got shot down.
I remember annoying a bunch of people with my noobiness, which includes the forums. Luckily, the recent crash deleted the posts I made, so I've been able to make amends, and become slightly logical...
Of course that was a while back, when zoner drama was a thing...
First time on a server, a battleship lolwutter almost bumped me into erie when I had managed to buy a mammoth and had a load of ore. next day, voila! 15 mils more in my account. dunno how.
First time? Well. I've started playing in 2012-2013 i think. Made forum account after half year in 2013.
First when i came out of planet i've seen Liberty carrier. I liked it so much, but when i saw it's price i filled bad,
When i came this server was beta or something and there was rollback. 1 guy gaved me 800 millions and told me about rollback and there will be no cash. He told me how can i start making money. I did so.
I've started with mining Helium in Pennsylvania. Brought it to Okinawa then reolized that simple scrap casts 2700 in NY junker base. I went mining it. Mined - sold. Made me good profit. Then bought Hegemon, went to Dublin. Mined gold ore with BMM ID.
Then 1 guy contacted me and asked for help in mining. We mined and mined.... Mined around 20k of gold ore. THen he F1 in space and toolked his ship. There i've seen barge first in my life. He payed me 100 million credits for help in mining.
After that he gaved me Aquillon Zoner carrier with JD4 and we started to jump trade with barge. Great times. I made alot of credits. He also gaved me Core 4 base. (Shuri base in Sigma 13 i think). I sold it after and the guy who bought it destroyed it =(.
real *galère* but fun, and yes the pirates are too much strong for a new player! a bit of multiboxing (but chut, it is forbiden)! fortunately, we can find some players who help! AU8 offered by exemple or a ship buyed at good price if i remember it was my first +/- 100 millions.
i made some offer for new players, but they seems not interested!
how much time passed in the dauman diamant field to mine in a transport no dauman idded +/- 2days for a full cargo etc etc ....
Pelican wandering through Sirius: no strafing, to TSing just a few low profitable routes till I've met some good people who helped me to start with helium and so on. Then I've bought my very first gunboat with veeeery low armour and went with some guys to raid Hamburg.
I've ended supporting some LDreadnoughts and died to Donau or Oder, not sure --> no strafing, no TSing, firing all guns in cockpit view ^^.
Well I basically came to Discovery after something about two months spent on another server, so I was pretty new even after finishing the SP campaign, well and that's why I've wanted a loldread from my first steps. Some people was so nice and helped me to reach this objective. I kept lolwutting with basic atempts to RP (well wasn't that bad) - I definitely liked this ship. Then I was somehow banned due to something connected with my game files (didn't change it, but server kept disconnecting me and banned in the end) so I had to register on forums and I was waiting about a week or more till some pretty Greeny Or Orangy has accepted me.
And for sure daily raids to Texas or Hamburg - it was the best part of my Disco experience.
Kudos to all those people + to our small trip into Omicrons
Now it goes slowly further, buying ships, selling them, wasting money and so on
I was an Outcast indie in Magellan flying a Dagger with no armor upgrades and tried pirating a Zoner transport. Transport warned me multiple times I was out of his league but I persisted and was blown up about 30 seconds later. Only to have an official Outcast person come out of the nebula to avenge me and show me the ropes.
Me and my cousin started at same time. It was in .87. We first traded things in stargazers, then Rhinos. Neon-Rice route was good(still great). When i discovered and introduced him mining on a BMM ID Hegemon he bored and left disco xD. I continued and some of you knows my rest of the story
