Imagine a pirate engaging that sort of cloak to sneak up on miners in fields, using rocks as a cover.
That would also mean that people would have more success with small ships due to obvious reasons..
I love that idea, but maybe make a separate devise for it? I dunno, Scanner Jammer?

it'd be awesome if that would be ingame, but a cloak is a different matter imo.

I wouldn't mind having a camouflage equipment that would mess up with scanners only, and not render you invisible.
the current suggestion is based on what we have right now, and it's based on what currently is called cloaking devices.
Also, I think there were rules imposed (server and house rules) that rendered cloaked intel not acceptable for following rp.

Cloaks are turning things invisible. That tech exists in fl lore. What you're suggesting would be an ECM. Electronic Countermeasure, first designed in WWII by dropping TINFOIL out of planes to jam radar. Its a great idea.

I think the idea of a stealth technology that reduces scanner capability is a good one.
Same method as Cruise, Core inactive while in use
Does NOT require batteries because it consumes the Core while operating
Vulnerable to cloak disruptor
Fits in the Counter Measure slot
Cannot operate at the same time as a Cloak
Does not render the ship invisible, just less scanner range
This would give scouts and such more potential since they could theoretically get in closer without being seen.
The only issue that i think we would need to have a rule against, is using it to get away. As people would not be able to select this, when running away people could use this to avoid being targeted by Cruiser Disrupters.

FYI, they cannot operate at the same time, as CM is the mount for cloak. Only, like, three ships in entire game have double CM.
I am aware of that, but those ships are why I suggested it. Being able to cloak and stealth at the same time would allow you to shift from one to the other if you had both without a period of detection.
I didn't want, "Running out of batteries, shift to stealth while still cloaked".
