Currently, we have plenty of problems with Disco in general. Two of these problems are 1: The lack of moneysinks and 2: Arguments on what gets updated by a patch next.
My idea is that moneysinks could be made for people to help "finance" their preferred update. That way there will be a non-forum argument way to decide which thing the devs work on next.
This idea would solve both issues if carried out correctly, and people would have something to trade for besides CAU8s and POBs once they get rich.
For example: Have several moneysinks people could transfer credits to, to fund the specific patch it corresponds with.
Examples:
Omicron Update: 5 Billion Credits
Gallic Conquest Update: 6-8 Billion Credits
Smaller things such as trade lane to Sprauge in Omega-3 completed: 750 Million Credits
#deletecore: 1 Trillion Credits
So, what do you think? Good Idea or Bad Idea? My examples do not have to be anything near the price of what I put them as, by the way...

For such major-impacting events like complete updates, the price is way too low. Also no, I don't like the idea as a whole. I do have another moneysink proposition though, and that is th add a CAU IX that costs 1.8 billion credits and multiplies the armor by 4.2. It wouldn't be that big of a difference to make it overpowered, and it'd be fair for the people that can afford it.
If you have more money, that means that you should be privileged to steer the development where you want. Even better if it is real money! Uh... right?
Additionally, moneysinks? Why do we need them? Are there actually people out there who like trading, mining or doing missions? House banks are rich due to POB taxing and fines, but introducing something new wouldn't make a change. People who have access to House banks don't even use that money unless absolutely necessary.
I don´t think this is good idea. First, it will trigger many arguments about "devs are now under control of rich elitist vets, so they work on demand for them instead for all players like they should, and they will work on stuff that rich elitist vets want instead on work which is needed the most".
Second, this solution would be way too imbalanced, because vet players from trading factions would get big advantage over others from lawful and unlawful factions, because they simply have billions stored on their accounts already and their possibilities to obtain money are incomparably better.
Third, why should players pay for stuff which is in some cases done to fix previous mistakes. For example Omicron update you mention is in work at least partially to fix many times criticized buffer systems problem, which was not idea of players, but idea of previous devs. Players critized it from the beginning and it turned out it really was bad idea, which resulted in decreased activity in Omicrons. Why should players pay to fix devs´ mistakes?

This is not possible technically I think. As far as I know, the total value of whole character can´t exceed sum of 2,1 billion credits. So once player with battleship, guns and other equipment moves this sum onto account to buy the armor, character can be corrupted if there is some expensive fully equipped battleship.
tl;dr: Disco need some more moneysinks, but proposed idea is not way to go.
Frankly, I doubt that we'll need many more moneysinks. Also putting cash for updates is kinda a bad idea imho.
I'm for @Antonio's CauIX --> something bigger than a cau8 would be a really good idea. Yet about the cau, it should be produced on POBs imho, making it directly buyable for 1,8 bil might cause some problems with accounts. Also stuff like docking modules which would allow to dock multiple targets inside would be cool as well. Also, fighter jump drives making them able to jump lets say 50k forward in the same system (not between systems) --> it would be a cool shortcut and way to escape... And frankly, funding npc bases maybe wouldn't be that bad idea... Lets say Kishiro wants to estabilish another base somewhere, so they will need to haul a lot of stuff and pay some cash...
Also the same option should be avaible to freelancers --> building small pob-class stuff and so on.
Maybe POBs shouldn't work like they do it right now. Instead of commodity consumption they would take amount of cash per month? It would force people to trade or gain money in different way and more traders = more pirates = more interactions = more activity
It would also make it easier to develop such stuff...
I would have to disagree (and not because i am probably the poorest disco member of all time).
To the OP: Well you would get people just instantly donating all money to one thing. which would just ruin things. Devs take time to do the special work and also have lives, so cant be rushed.
To Epo: I cant say getting more CAU are better, its already to hard when people find some ships that have CAU8. Yesterday i found a a transport with like CAU6 or something and it was able to thrust like 20k under constant bomber fire..... SO more CAU would be bad in my opinion.....
I agree that the Economy of disco is broken, in fact yesterday i must have had like a 2 hours conversation with @Karst about how it is broken and how we can fix it....
Nice idea in theory, terrible in practice. This will just result in whoever has the most amount of money lobbying to get their changes done first. This is literally how American politics work and oh god is it awful.
