OC = over-clocking, I think.

EDIT: The LAN server I sometimes use found this out too- when the server owner would play (no dedicated server), he'd get funny lag every 5 seconds, despite having the hardware to handle it (we only ever had 3 ppl on at a time). He messed with the overclocking settings and *poof* no lag.

To overclock a computer means to push certain components' operating frequencies higher than their rated specifications in order to get more performance for free.

We overclocked our server from 2800 Mhz (default clock speed) to 4050Mhz. That way, we increase its processing power without having to buy a new, more powerful processor. Which is also much more expensive.
In fact, there is no faster processor that the one we have now, as we have exceeded the speed of the fastest processor sold on the market of the Core 2 Duo family. There are no 4Ghz C2D processors out there being sold.

OutCast. lol.
Yah. we added a bunch of outcasts running on a hamster wheel, behind a bag of cardie. The wheel is connected to a generator, and the generator to the server. That way, the server has more power, and runs faster.:P

Sig'd.

@Overclocking - I remember hearing a while ago that overclocking can cause said hardware (is that the right term? I'm not much of a computer person >_> ) to "crash and burn" - not literally - and therefore make the computer inoperable? Is that true?

It is possible, but rare. You know when you reach the limits, 'cause the computer begins to crash during the stability tests. You then bring the speed back to the last stable setting (in fact, a bit more towards the safe limit, just in case) so it runs stable.

I am going to throw you into the Razgriz, Victor.:P

Anyways, glad to hear it was just the OCing...nothing too major. I mean, we probably didn't even need it that high anyways. And it didn't explode this time! Yay!

Michal, while you're at it, put a new coat of wax on her, would you? She deserves a good rub-down every once in a while.
