"Is everything going according to plan, Kommandant?"
"It goes smoothly, Frau Vorsitzende. No doubt Aachen realises what is happening, but no one else does and she can do little against us."
A very faint smile appeared on the face of Freya Eistochter. The situation was far from perfect with Die Festung having apparently backstabbed Freya. She was no rookie however, she adapted to the situation. Perhaps it was her own mistake as well, to trust Die Festung. Their leader Jana Aachen was after all, not a woman of principles. She was sly, much more than even Freya could ever be. Regardless, measures had to be taken for the future. The new situation could mean that a success for the movement, would be a loss for Freya, and that would in turn be a loss for the movement. If the operation she ordered would succeed that would be the greatest military victory for the Bundschuh in decades, yet it now looks like some elements in the movement would use it to crush the militant members. Freya could not allow such a great victory to be wasted by two-faced hippies. Their pointless idealism, their pathetic rejection of violence.
And so, preparations had to be made for the aftermath. Before her sat Kommandant Immanuel Brinkerhoff of the Widerstand. He was in charge of assigning crews for the Widerstand's larger warships, gunboats, gunships and of course: the WGS Ostara. The original crew of the Ostara had been handpicked by Freya and included 11 people that were not part of the Widerstand, but of Rote Adler and Die Festung. Initially members leaving service of the vessel were supposed to be replaced by members of the same sect. This however was never written down and would likely cause trouble if it was because other sects were already not very keen on the Widerstand choosing some sects above the others.
The Kommandant did not know about the bigger scheme that Freya had. He did not care much either, Die Festung did not have many suitable members anyway. They were never trained for anything remotely related to serving on a capital warship. When Freya had asked him to keep Die Festung out of the rotation and instead only take fresh crew from the Widerstand and Rote Adler, he asked no questions. The Widerstand had the most capable members and the Rote Adler had at least a few decent members he could pick from.
