I like the idea of raising the Starflier's sale price to boost starting cash; keep that going.
Some problems with Discovery:
1) Larger ships, such as repair ships and transports, do not display labels in their infocards.
2) The one capital ship I have tried, the Liberty Cruiser, won't display anything but two copies of its description in its infocard.
3) Docking takes too long, dock raping would be horrible if we had more PvPers :/ However, there is a way around this: use Free Flight to get as close to the docking point as possible (such as the nodes on Roppongi Station) and dock, and you will instantly enter the facility.
4) Capital ship buy pointss aren't really in logical places; can I suggest putting the shipless Shipyards to use?
Things I love about Discovery:
1) Difficulty. Unless you spend hours trading (like I did :D) it'll take a few weeks to get big ships. Also, the enemies using nanobots and shield batteries helps.
2) The capital ships. Being able to buy them at all aside, I love how you can customize them -- add better guns or whatever, and the fact that they have shields.
3) Trade with transports. I've always enjoyed the trade system in FL, but carrying those huge loads makes it seem more... satisfying. Especially when you name your drug runner 'The HappyTrain' XD
Converting Starlancer ships? I guess it was already done in other mods, search at TLR... I'm not planning to include any ships from other games or movies into this mod, as Epsilon authors correctly noticed, it's rather unlogical to have B5, Star Trek, Star Wars etc ships in one mod. So I'll better stick to Freelancer originals.
Infocards in Freelancer are inside dll files, so editing them is not an easy task, let alone making new ones.
Shipyards... I don't know, I'm just lazy to put new rooms into bases, besides I like how it looks like on planets (Pittsburg for example) where you can see a whole hull of your *future* ship.
Docking... well, there's a way to make it a bit faster, that I'm implementing right now.
I have to agree with the comments concerning the current docking system. Ships prefer to start a good 100 meters out and crawl into dock at something like 20 meters/sec. It's not so bad in the core systems, but when you have a pack of titans breathing down your neck in the border worlds 5 seconds is nerve wracking. If you try to shave time off by getting closer to the docking bay before activating the dock it takes even longer to back your ship up. Also i noted some endless loop bugs when trying to dock extremely poor manuvering vessles (the humpback in my case) too close to the point of entry. The ship picks a circular route to re-align itself with the dock but can't cut the corner sharp enough so it just flies in circles until you hit free flight and fix it yourself. In one VERY close call over planet new berlin my freighter managed to get to the final stages of dock (when you lose the ability to return to free flight and the screen changes to letterbox aspect) before starting this loop. It kept dipping into the atmosphere behind the dock ring trying to realign. Didn't think to screenshot before i panic exited :-/
And on a completely unrelated note... i've heard that a class 10 shield has been added to the Corsair sell list. Does anyone know if this is true, or at which base it is sold?
Hi there all - I'll post more later but just here now to say, wow, what an excellent mod. It is just full of sensible and good ideas. I like the way NY - Magellan is closed for a start.
I like the new ship prices and AI - really challenging. Freighters costing more is good. I would make the class 9 and 10 ships even more expensive.
I have a bit a problems sometimes with the docking sequence, like undocking inside a station, but apart from that and the infocards it's really cool. CSV might be a bit too cheap, I think the price should go up. Please make Nomad guns really rare as I think they are too much "no-brainer".
No PvP in NY is good, I wouldn't mind this extended to Liberty and a difference of >5 levels. There is really no point anyway to PvP without player looting - I think a small amount would be Ok (cargo or cargo + unmounted weapons). This encourages co-operation, players stick together for more protection.
You'll see me around.! I follow the path of justice and liberty as a fighting trader(well, my first character does, anyway). Rogues are my enemy!
Keep up the good work, long live Discovery FL!
Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons
"Bounty Hunters. We don't need that scum." - Admiral Piett
in an update to my own post, i found a class 10 shield. The one i found is on planet Crete, and has around 8,000/180 points/regen respectively. However there is one in the system files listed as having over 10,000 points and a regen up in the 300 range.... i can't find any reference to it in other files though, has it been removed from the sell lists or am i not looking hard enough?
I don't know what's wrong with the normal docking system, because I only modified the moor points for larger ships. I know that all ships can use them now, but cannot think of any reason why normal docking would work the wrong way.
I did not add the shield to corsairs, don't know why it is there, maybe I used some wrong original file to edit.
Beam definitely works on a Liberty battleship because my admin char is flying on it right now. I'll check about bretonian one.

The problem with the docking is there on every mod with big ships.... I wonder if there is a chance at a fix, something about changing the size of the ship when it tries to dock.
The corsair shield is there in single player, most people just didn't know. The Advanced Champion shield or whatever, that Npc bounty hunters have is in the game, but not sold. Just so you know..... it would be neat if you could buy it from bounty hunters.
