Ageira builds gates, but lots of battleships out there can use jump drives on their own. So the technology can't be THAT hard to handle. That could also explain why there are other docking rings.
Jump Drives are not explained in lore either. The only mention in lore is about Sleeper ships having them. Discovery is a strange place. Gaps everywhere.
But am I too hard on community and mod for asking to keep main role of Ageira be left for Ageira?

Monopoly pretty much sounds like "Nobody beside me can do that".
Anyways, as I said...

You know... how about you all think of it this way.
Ageira has the premium ready-made parts for it.
And other that need to make something like this that do not have access to it have to RP a different approach with materials from scratch to make it.
But still. give Ageira it's thing that they are known for. Stop going with the idea that everyone needs to have it becasue then you will just keep moving forwards to a bland faction base where everyone can do anything and who cares who you are.
Let factions have their special thing. Geez....
basically, if you want to make your own docking ring and you want to ignore Ageira and their RP to do with it, then you should make it from scratch.
You do not get the ready-made parts automatically.

They can always contract Ageira. We will set up event. Docking Ring gets built. If devs approve, patch comes, Docking RIng goes live.

except I doubt Ageira will build anything for unlawfuls.
There will always be a knockoff or replica of something though. (granted, may not be as efficient)

There's no knockoff of Jump Gates or Trade Lanes. As already stated, Digital Anvil released the game with Docking Rings on those planets, and Discovery developers did the same, by adding non-explained Docking Rings outside Ageira's scope.
If there was one shred of tangible lore piece explaining it, the discussion would be different.
Why can't unlawfuls not have Ageira's tech? Are satellite/arrows any worse in gameplay terms, to warrant stripping away part of Ageira's unique lore?

On the other hand, why stripping away things that came from the vanilla? You can't consider the docking rings of Toledo, Malta and Crete to be wrong but insisting in the untouchable cleverness of ageiras white boxes. Let it be as it is. Those planets had had those docking rings for so many years know. I agree that new planets are other cases. You can't just say "Digital Anvil did that just for technical/deus-ex-machina-plot reasons".
If they had no other technical possibilities, they just could have made orbital bases, simulating a planetary lift. But they gave them docking rings.
Actually Toledo was Order's base and Order had various people in their ranks from various corners of sirious. Maybe they had some Ageira guys who gave them blueprints yet during the Nomad War or before?
It isn't documented doesn't mean didn't happen. And that's why vanilla was (meowing) awesome with its wide range of unknown and-yet-to-explore things. In Disco there's everything to be placed in proper order and documented and it isn't that good. Some mysterious and unknown stuff would be a good thing as well.
