2.3 Names of new characters should be set up with role-playing nature of our server in mind. This means that:
- Names should contain no swear words.
- Country of player origin must not be used in character names.
- Faction tags can only be used by the actual members of player factions or groups.
- Names with excessive use of random symbols, capital letters, numbers, symbols, leet speak, emoticons should not be used.
- Names should be in good taste and not reference real-life atrocities
In no way did the affected players violate the server rules.

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

The way I see it, they want you to think something like
Rational Thought Wrote:Do I really want to represent myself to my peers with a name like this while they have actual effort put into their names? This is the 31st century with a large portion of old Earth's history straight-up missing or mangled beyond belief save what we have in the history books, and it's more likely that relevant information, such as technology and chemistry, would be more useful in the ship's memory banks. Also, those ships were launched at the end of a particularly nasty war of attrition, so memes would be in short supply.
However, an in-RP explanation for memes would consist of the person flying the ship being a stuffy old historian or something, or the ship namer consulted a historian for names from Earth-That-Was to make their ship stand out.
