What happened to the real Destroyers?

Like we have 3.03 Destroyer turrets but like every destroyer currently acts like a cruiser, great. The time where Ku Dessie was a thing, small, 1 heavy, Destroyer turrets.

Same as the Thresher Destroyer, could actually have Core Destroyer Turrets, yet they all have Cruiser turrets.

Can we give Destroyers their roles back pls? Would be nice having a variaties to choose between a Cruiser and a Destroyer as a role.

Well, yes but srsly like give a Destroyer class turrets to Destroyers maybe? I mean having 2 types of Cruiser like Caps for different roles wouldn't be bad at all. Not to mention we had this with 1 heavy ku dessi and dessie turrets. Not to mention Outcasts have Destroyer turrets, yet people use Cruiser turrets, even though OCs have no Cruiser inRP (Storta "Destroyer").

Perhaps, that's a better idea? Because a Destroyer is a short term for torpedo-boat destroyer. So, it's primary role is to destroy (or at least make their 'work' as complicated as possible) torpedo-boats, i.e. bombers, and protect larger caps against them. But the only ship actually fitting this role is the Zoner Q-ship, namely Fearless (9 turrets, two heavies, weak core and a frame that is hard to snac even from 500m). The Scylla, Storta and other 'destroyers' with their 12 turret mounts and heavy reactors are more like full-blown cruisers. Typhoon also easily fits here, because despite having only 9 turrets it still sports a heavy cruiser reactor.

i was going to write something on this topic, but i eventually came to the realization that for destroyers to be as they are generally described inRP (as agile craft with smaller powercores and armor that excel in hunting GBs and snubs), a complete discussion on terminology and which ships fit into which class would be required.

and that, while a reasonable idea, isnt that important in the current scheme of things with more important issues regarding mod content.

just for examples sake: Storta, Bret dessie and Rogue dessie are really only destroyers in name with generally cruiser level stats
