actually
they're not wrong.
I saw some indie Juggernaut and some gunboat attacking the Core when we were charging the Order squad.
If those Zoners didnt attack, then the Core wouldn't have attacked. The reason they attacked was the previous mess involving the cigars which raised the tensions. The attacking Zoners were the catalyst and imo it's dumb that they shot when they weren't supposed to get involved.
Core is writing down "history" from their own point of view, of course. It's not meant to be "correct" in the sense of "stating the facts". It's nothing else but a roleplayed propaganda piece, which is pretty cool. Stating facts... everybody can do that. Interpreting and presenting them in a rp way, viewed through a character concept and world view makes this sort of irp history writing cool.
Who started it when and why does not even matter.
It's all about perspective, agenda, vested interest.
And as long as it is purely irp, and is not aimed at destroying the sandbox of the other rpers, it's cool.
I try to write the lore from a neutral standpoint actually. I tried my best to do that with the Zoner segment, although it's harder because I/we only saw things from a single perspective.
After months of (bullying by Core, and) rising tensions, the conflict between Zoners and the Core eventually escalated into violence, culminating in a Core attack against Freeport 11 which damaged the Freeport...
What you wrote is... not neutral... LOL. Mate. Seriously?
Do you need writing lessons in "non-fictional" texts?
The reason for rising tensions could be pointed at the stark ideological differences between the two organizations. The Core's desire for the establishment of a House-like government in the Edge Worlds conflicted with the Zoner's desire to live a life in the Edge Worlds without laws and regulations. Eventually some Zoners grew restless at The Core's attempts to install law and began to rebel. After the Zoner's of Freeport 11 had begun to attack The Core's civilian personnel, as well as attempt an attack on Yaren Base in cooperation with The Order, The Core felt they have had enough of their insolence. In a bold move, The Core attacked Freeport 11, causing heavy damage to its infrastructure as well as leaving casualties. In the pursuit of law and utopia they would not allow criminal conduct within their own borders.
An "attack" against Yaren happened much later, after the Core attack against the Freeport. That day's madness started with Core ships killing Zoners at Freeport because they had contraband. From then on, it spun out of control. I think the timeline is wrong, tbh.
The reason why we shot FP11 was because Zoners attacked Yaren first.
The whole thing actually started because a Zoner outside of the NFZ was doing missions against Nomads and had Nom remains in their hold. Some Zoners saw us shooting him and hopped into the fight. So we had to defend ourselves and eventually ended up blowing them up too. You and Karst later hyped it out of proportion up via your incognito Zoner alts, and the end result was the current outcome we have.
