Akabat is the sole moon of Planet Nebet, and is unusually large for a moon. It may have been a separate planet at one time which has been caught by Nebet's deep gravity well. Akabat has an erratic climate, as night and day are variable, depending on Akabat's position relative to both the sun and Nebet. Nebet also frequently eclipses the sun, which causes an occasional "long night". Nevertheless, the planet is habitable, with modest flora focused around a few large rivers that flow from various mountain ranges. Akabat posesses a dry and cold atmosphere, precipitation only falls in the higher mountain ranges in the form of snow. The Order has established itself near the rivers to take advantage of the fresh water supply those offer. Many regions of the planet have not been explored yet as the Order was more concerned with establishing its defenses, after the devastation of Omicron Minor, which has changed in recent years. Virtually all of the Order's civilians and scientists reside on Akabat, inhabiting a single small city.
⧫ Akhetaten
» King’s Landing - Space Port (Located on the Outskirts)
» Toledo Memorial - “For those who gave it all, to ensure our fight continues”
When the Order first settled on Akabat, Camp Giza was the first settlement to be erected after the devastation that was the Battle of Minor. In the years since, furious work and an influx of both supplies and recruits, from both their Zoner allies and the many citizens who firsthand find the Nomads, the Order has grown again . While this has not bolstered the Order anywhere near the original numbers on Toledo, the majority of the civilians worked tirelessly for years to finally makie a city, which was dubbed Akhetaten.
The center of the civilian population of Akabat, and the only major city of Akabat, Akhetaten possesses a multitude of civilian housing, foodstores, and fabrication centers. Recently the Order has been able to import luxury items, allowing people to open up clothing stores, toy stores, and even a few clubs and bars for workers to go off duty. This is done by the concept of vouchers that were introduced in 822 AS by the Order Overwatch, shunting all Sirius Credits from civilian use into pure Order Military use, allowing the Order Military and Logistics to keep the Order fed and moving. This has allowed the Order to further build the city of Akhetaten, as well as many of the surrounding bases - especially the Mountain Fortresses Quesir Citadel, Arkantos Fortress, and Citadel Babylonia. As vouchers are the currency
Akhetaten's main points of interest are the Districts. The Districts are the major spots of Akhetaten, and they consist of Little Crete, and Akihibara. To the south is King's Landing the largest civilian spaceport on Akabat, and is set nearest to Lake Nasser. The main point of landing for the Order's logistics core and anyone bringing supplies and manpower, King's Landing, not only being named after Michael King, the LSF Agent turned Order Agent during the First Nomad War, is defended by a system of anti-air cannon system. While not as developed per say as Hierlark Planetary Command, King's Landing is the biggest spaceport, and the only place for anyone who does not belong to the Order to land beyond a few of the camps around the planet.
D'Souza is the District of the Corsairs. During the Order-Corsair alliance, a mass of Corsairs came to the Order to assist them in the battle against the Nomads; this led to the Order having to establish a sole district for the Corsairs when Akabat was found, as tensions ran high around everyone, especially the hot-blooded Children of Crete. Built in true Cretan style, "Little Crete" can be rowdy. Many a night the revelry of the Corsairs can be heard all the way at Akihibara.
And never go there on Tuesday.
Akihibara is the center of the Blood Dragon colonists, and where any Blood Dragons settle, as well as any Kusarian defector to the Order. It is not as big as Little Crete, but Akihibara is filled with more sweeping architecture. It also is the only area on Akabat that manufactures melee weaponry, and the Blood Dragon craftsmen that came to Akabat following the fall of Minor have created some of their finest work, second only to the bases of the Dragons themselves, in this area. It also is the center of the night life, ironically, and has some of the best clubs...second only to the Hanging Gardens.
Akhetaten also contains the massive Toledo Memorial. A massive pyramid set in the center of Akhetaten, at the base of all four sides are the words "For those who gave it all, to ensure our fight continues" A monument to the loss of everything at Toledo, the Memorial is mirrored up north at Hierlark Command Center. The main Memorial doubles as the Akhetaten Defense Shield, ensuring the memories of those lost will protect what will remain. The Toledo Memorial is never empty - the area around it is forever inhabited by people, some of whom live there to maintain the shield over the city, should anyone attempt to assault them.
Located under the Toledo Memorial, Wedjat Facility ORILLION is the Datacenter of the Wedjat Divsion, and maintains the generators keeping the shield up. ORILLION is also the major CIC of the Order's WEDJAT Division, and holds the honor of being the first Wedjat Facility constructed on Akabat. Finished before Akhetaten was halfway to it's current point, Facility ORILLION is filled with some of the Order's most dangerous secrets...secrets that are less of a threat then those kept within "Deep Quarantine" in Wedjat Facility HADES RAZGRIZ up north, under the Razgriz Straights Science Complex.
Other points of interest are: Collister Officer's Academy: The Major Officer's Academy of the City, Collister Academy gives anyone who wishes to fight and has the aptitude officer's training, and a leg up into the Order Military. Kelt's Lounge Bar and Grill: Best damn burgers and booze ever. Seith's Walk Strip Club: Third best club, ever. Tiberius Medical Center: Named after the commander of the Iron legion, Tiberius Medical Center is the biggest hospital on Akabat, and is defended 24/7 by a squadrons of Bastets and a pair of Hathors.
Giza Military Command is the Order's Military Headquarters on Akabat. The largest non-civilian base (publicly) Giza Base was finished one year ago, and sits on the far side of King's Landing. Situated on the edge of Lake Nasser, Giza Military Command is the center of all Order Ground-based training, manufacturing, and organization within Order space. Set on the edge of Lake Nasser, Giza Military Command the feared Order Detainment Facility called the "Duat."
Giza Command also holds most of the Order's major war manufacturing planets. While most small arms, armor, and clothing are made in Akhetaten, Giza manufactures and maintains the ground fleet of the Order, as well as one Nephthys Manufacturing Plant. Giza is also the location of the specialized munition factory that creates the dangerous and feared Kemwer. Dozens of transports and freighters are seen leaving day after day. The most famed is the Shaitan, which brought a load of Whiskey one day (rumored for the benefit of a certain agent). Kemwer is always being produced and shipped, the major importers being the Blood Dragons and the Bundschuh at the current time. Soldiers practice with Kemwer munitions every day at a firing range out into the sea, causing a Caution Zone to be erected in case of unexploded ordinance.
Giza Command is fully staffed and maintains ten Fighter Squadrons (mixed between Nephthys and Bastets), four Sekhmeet Bomber wings, two Onuris Interception Wings, and three Hathor gunships led by the CV-Sanahkt.
The Overwatch Emergency Bunker CROCEATE HOLD was built shortly after Giza was inhabited. The Hold, as it is called, posses enough armor to survive an orbital bombardment, and enough food to last for three months. The Hold is the last bastion of safety for the Order's High Command structure, as well as able to hold a total of five hundred people. The Hold has a single transport hidden within, as well as a small wing of Bastets.
The Hold is for the Overwatch when everything goes wrong, as a final way of ensuring the Order survives should Omicron Mu befall the same fate as Omicron Minor. The entire bunker is also set to activate a lava shield, should the crust become cracked. The shield can last half an hour - enough time to launch the transport. But if the crust is ever breached, the Order could very well be ended.
With the threat of another full planetary assault by enemies, the Order Science Division went to work devising a new method of planetary defense. With Akabat defended by a network of smaller planetary shields, the amount of holes left open are impossible to fully patrol. This led to the creation of the Missile System dubbed "Quietus Lotus" and it's sister weapon. The Quietus Lotus System is linked to the Spyglass Scanners located at the North Pole's Razgriz Straits Science Complex, and the South Pole's Defense Station Hoff. Both Hoff and Razgriz Straits have Quietus Lotus systems in place, covering seventy-five percent of the planet currently with high-speed, high-yield warheads packed with the latest in Kemwer technology. Quietus Lotus has not been fired, but that is due to the supreme efforts of the Order Fleet, and their steadfast defense of Mu.
The Wedjat Facility just above the Hold, Wedjat Facility MIRAGE is the chief Cryogenics and Clone research division. What goes on within MIRAGE is top secret, through beyond the normal attempts to clone past war heroes, is the perfection of the cryogenics systems such as the one that saved Aelita Stone's life. What more can be perfected is the chief research of MIRAGE, as well as a way to preserve the heroes of today, in case they are needed in the future to fight. Nothing is set in stone, though MIRAGE suffers from generator issues due to the hasty construction of most bases.
When the Order had established Camp Giza, where Akhetaten would one day begin to form, the Order Overwatch knew they would need a place to train any and all new recruits that would come, once the fate of Minor and the danger the Nomads again possesed came out to haunt everyone. It was the need for a school that, taking the name of the missing leader that preceded Robert D'Souza, Osbrone Academy would be founded. Settled away from Camp Giza, nearest to Tucker Ridge, the original Academy was a ramshackled group of prefabricated buildings and makeshift landing pads, filled with Eagles and a few training Nephthys. Now, years later, a massive complex had been erected over time. Sitting atop Tucker Ridge, the closest place to Camp Avaris, Osborne Academy commands Lake Nasser from above, giving all trainees the room the fly and grow. Older Eagles phased out, trainees now get to practice in Nepththys and Bastet MKIIs from the get-go, and the water gives a perfect area to erect targets for them.
The Academy is where the Order trains everyone. While Officers get to transfer to Collister Academy in Akhetaten, it is widely known that graduation from Collister isn't a guaranteed command. In the past year more from Osborne have gained commands, and while Collister breeds the few. School rivalry is encouraged, to an acceptable level...a level that sometimes is broken, to harsh punishments. Some could even say Collister is a test, to see who would abandon their comrades for a "chance" at greatness. Some say Collister is actually a Wedjat testing ground. Whatever the case may be, Osborne Academy has bred some of the best pilots the Order has ever seen, and continues to bring out the best commanders the Order has ever had. And sometimes, even the great Osborne himself, back from the grave from which he once went, will grace the halls and show you that legends never die.
They always will return, to bring you hope. And that is the slogan of Osborne Academy.
As long as life remains, hope shall always be found.
In one of the few sparse jungle areas of Akabat lies Camp Rekhyt, an Outpost that watches over the route that leads between Arkantos Fortress and Osborne Academy. The base is a small one, with a garrison and only a wing of Nephthys in case of emergency. It's not one of the most important bases, but it is one of the oldest bases on the planet. It was slowly fixed up, but after the completion of Giza Base and Arkantos Fortress, Rekhyt was cut back to be used as a watchtower most of all.
As it was the only base in the region at the moment, the base as of late is actually starting to liven up. Survey teams have begun to strike out elsewhere, heading out to start planning for the second city the Order eventually wanted to set up once their position in Mu was furthersecured, and more recruits and families were inbound. As such, Rekhyt is nicknamed the "Steppingstone to Abydos."
With Abydos established, Camp Rekhyt now serves as little more than a waystation for ships heading towards Abydos, and a watch station in the region.
The former home base of Colonel Jeremy Hunter, Avaris is a ramshackled mess of prefabricated structures, hastily constructed hangars, and a few freighters, converted into buildings, that passes as a camp. Up northwest, near the location where, ultimately, Citadel Babylonia would be placed, Camp Avaris served as a refugee camp and temporary Wedjat deployment installation, where the Wedjat agents would used a converted Ragnar armored transport as an HQ. It was also in this building that many people, from Rika Hunter, to Michal Golanski himself, would come to find Jeremy being a lazy bastard, dragging him off into insane missions.
Camp Avaris has steadily grown, more permanent structures being made. The Order has stationed a Marine training unit at Avaris, using the surrounding area as a vehicular testing ground for trucks, tanks, mech walkers (some of them the descendants of the old GUNDAM projects of the Preservers) as well as a few weapons tests more north. Avaris slowly is being built as the next Giza Base, but with most of the materials going to Akhetaten and finishing the Mountain Bases, Avaris' time is long away, just like Abydos.
Until then, Avaris must make do with scrap, old vessels, and occasionally be graced with technology such as a Quietus Lotus launcher site, or a few unfinished Spyglass Arrays that are being used as tests for newer Combat Engineers to fix. Faster they can fix a Spyglass, faster they can fix anything. The current best time at fixing a Spyglass, or jury rigging it to work for awhile, is two hours and forty three minutes, done by the Director of the OSD herself.
Second up was Valkyrie. No one is sure how.
Camp Avaris has since been absorbed by Osborne Academy and now is the site of the Wargame Arenas for classes to have hands-on experience in all weapons and tactics used by the Order.
The newest Outpost of the Order on Akabat, Camp Brandon serves as a stopover between the Giza Plateau and the northern part of Akabat. Situated at the end of Zane's Path, Camp Brandon is made from the biodome from the Pyramid, after it was upgraded to Nephilim specs before the Fall of Minor. Outfitted with anti-air weaponry and housing a few Bastet fighters, Camp Brandon is not impressive, but it does the job of watching the pass and acting as a go-between for Citadel Babylonia, the Razgriz Straits Science Complex, as well as Hierlark Planetary Command. It's not the worst place to be stationed, though most people prefer being assigned to Quesir Citadel or Arkantos Fortress.
The second city on Akabat, Abydos was formed five years after Akhetaten was first started. Built up with prefabricated structures and over time reinforced and retrofitted, the city is only half the size of Akhetaten but is growing as the Order's recruitment efforts have continued. Abydos is the major mining settlement on Akabat, and is centered around Quesir Citadel, where the palladium mined is refined and shipped to Kemwer Factories at Giza for production. Quesir is a fully functioning military installation, with anti-ship and anti-ground cannons, fighter wings, Hathors, and an Order armored battalion. Akhetaten and Abydos are testaments to the ever-growing nature of the Order, who suffered greatly during the ground battle on Toledo, where Core forces were able to outmanuever the Order and cut off many of their installations and surround Outpost Orillion, which led to a majority of casualties planet-side. This prompted the Order to start reinforcing all installations, both for the protection of their assets and the protection of the civilian population that resides with them. While still growing since the Fall of Minor, Abydos was a major turning point for the civilian population, many of whom were having trouble finding work to do. With the mines in full swing and with some of the most robust, even if not top of the line, mining equipment the Order was able to get their hands on, Quesir Citadel has been supplying the Kemwer Factories and has only increased it's output as more and more men and materials pour in.
Centered on Quesir, Abydos is a circular city with no set districts like Akhetaten; instead, the city is mixed up throughout, with the stronger, more robust buildings nearer to the citadel walls while further out are prefabricated and are slowly being reinforced or replaced as the city grows and materials and means move in to expand. While it lacks many of the amenities of Akhetaten or Citadel Babylonia, Abydos has begun to thrive as Quesir Citadel's mining operations have grown, and under the watchful eyes of Quesir Citadel, the city will remain safe - especially after the Legion of Steel incident caused damage to Akhetaten in their failed revolution.
When the LWB collapsed and it's members scattered, a small group ended up with the Bundschuh. Upon meeting Order operatives working with the dedicated political movement, this small group was shipped out to Akabat, where they found the dry and cold atmosphere hellish to work with. Working with the OSD's Agriculture Department, the Order laid out a five miles land to start out with. For eight months they toiled the earth, introducing fresh soil and working with vegetables that can survive cold climates, managing a small amount of crops by the beginning of 826 A.S. With this success, Faiyuum was delivered the second Biodome from the former flagship Inquisitor, which serves as a control site for bio-engineering crops to thrive in cold weather. The first batch of bio-engineered wheat was introduced in January of 826 A.S, and with a promising outlook from the skeptical LWB and the Order Scientists, fifteen miles of land has been chosen to host the next batches of farmland. Faiyuum was named in March of 826 A.S and is comprised of a cluster of farmhouses arranged in rows. Each farmhouse has been raising livestock since it was created, but the climate proves difficult at times. Nevertheless, the Order is dedicated to working with the climate, which is far more forgiving than Toledo ever was. WIth all precipitation being snow, the Order Science Division created the initial five miles of farmland with an advanced irrigation and water recycling system for each "block" of crops, working from one end to the other. Ten Hathors deemed too damaged for regular combat were brought to Akabat and retrofitted as massive water tanks, and now serve to water the five miles of farmland. With the current success of Faiyuum on a small scale, the Order has already begun procuring and retrofitting Bison Transports to serve as the new water tankers for Faiyuum's farmland, and it is the hope that some manner of self-sufficiency can be brought about to the Order's civilian population.
