Your signature says enough vertigo.
Also, I approve of this decision, well done admins.
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
@Thyrzul Skype was always used to determine if someone is to be banned when there has been serious believable claims on Skype by one person to either cheat or attempting to disrupt the server functionality. Also what Bob said.
This was always the case. If you're using Skype as an extension of the forums to come at people, then expect Skype to be handled like the forums in severe cases.
Well, I'd still expect severe cases to have solid evidence of misconduct, and preferably not from external sources, but from the server and the forum. I still haven't got any solid evidence on why I've got my name on that list, yet I got to know that not one admin wanted me out for half a year (thankfully not the majority). I've also seen the evidence provided to some of the banned members, and the maliciousness of their content is highly debatable. Not convincing.
And then words are just words, unless you have anti-cheat entries of cheating you can't really confirm the intent to cheat shown in skype logs is real, for example. As I said it shouldn't be more than supportive evidence. Confirmation whether misconduct was intentional or accidental, thus in cases like that a modifier of punishment, but really barely anything more than that.

I witnessed part of it myself and while it was annoying and something I criticized him heavily for myself, I have seen quite similar events (or even worse) in the past in various chats and no one was ever sanctioned for that.
So if The Sixban showed something, than that there are actually no limits when admins sees it fit, and thus anyone can be sanctioned and banned due to actions on skype or teamspeak and whatever other platforms. Everyone in the community should behave according to it for his own safety, otherwise he might find his name in the sanction section. Staff should stop claiming otherwise, because as history showed, "exceptional processing" can be used anytime.
I completely agree. +1

Just to use myself as example (and I am definitely not the only one who feels this way), I used to defend adminteam and staff in general, because it is hard job with very little gratitude given back. I will no longer do that. I never believed in so called conspiracies and bias skype deals within adminteam and such. I lost my confidence regarding this.
Simply said, you lost credibility in eyes of many common players, really lot of it - and just for the record, I will repeat that it happened not because of what you did, but how you did it. And I doubt that current adminteam will be ever able to fix it completely.[...]

Wait... LOL. Sorry, but I find this very funny now. So somebody said something on Skype, that somebody else didn't like.. There is no actual record of it.. Outside of witnesses or complaints. And bans happened in lieu...
So gossip is the verdict then..
I'm sorry peeps. But if you let gossip run your life that's your business, albeit a bad business to be in. I myself have had many disagreements on Social media platforms. I've also been threatened. But that does not mean i am going to look for some authority figure to step in a stand up against a keyboard warrior for me.. This is just pathetic. Learn this lesson, nothing on the internet can be taken for face value. You can not take anything said or done on the internet as astute reality or of any serious nature.. For example, I can take 1 picture of something.. Then use that pic like so: http://i.imgur.com/E0HeJMU.jpg
I love the internet. Without having to look someone in the eye you can have the gonads so say almost anything.. And the other person will actually have an emotional response. It's utterly illogical, but it still works.. The internet is the best thing to ever happen to daytime tv dramas.. In reality we all know dang well trolls wouldn't troll to your face. Liars wouldn't be so bold about their lies and so on.. So stop putting salt on wounds and taking anything from the internet with any seriousness. So what you had an argument or heard something you didn't like online.. "Sticks n' stones may break my bones, but words WILL NEVER hurt me."
IE, thicken your skin children.
Your lesson is over. If you didn't get it, you never will.

I think in this case it wasn't a one-time bad word or gossip, but rather many instances of insulting multiple people over things related to the game.
It wasn't a Skype chat among buddies, but a Skype chat channel related to discovery where faction leaders or faction members were required to go for game related issues. Its not the same thing.
It makes no sense to enforce "you gotta be excellent to each other" rules on the forum, when people actually have to use a Skype channel for some aspects of the game, and then they get abused in that Skype channel.
----------
What I find disappointing in this is that the admins didn't explain exactly who did what wrong.
They punished a group for a bunch of things, as if they all did the same bad things.
This was clearly not the case, and it's only natural for people to feel like they are treated unfairly.
Jimmy burns down a house on purpose, Johnny breaks a window by accident.
Jimmy and Johnny get punished for burning down a house and breaking a window, no difference made.
Of course Johnny and his friends will be outraged, and Jimmy will say "But I never broke no window!".

It makes no sense to claim Skype evidence is not accounted for during sanction procession while they are actually accounted for during sanction procession either.
Or that everybody starts with a clean slate, then ban people for half a year for random stuff before that offer of clean slate.
A lot of things make no sense, yet a lot of things happen, get used to it.
