To the leaders of the Colonial Republic,

This is Tricia Bales, Assistant Director and liaison for the Galactic Spanning Corporation. As a corporation founded in Colonial Republic space, we are quite interested in solving the situation with the indigenous flora on planet Yuma. GalSpan has developed a phased plan to control the growth of the flora, as well as initiate construction and future agriculture of the planet, with the goal of Colonial colonization.

In that capacity, we humbly request that we be granted access too, or be sent samples of certain plant species that are the most destructive. Our science division is certain that they can discover a method of controlling the plant growth.

This would be a beneficial arrangement for the Colonial Republic and GalSpan. Please consider our offer and respond when you are ready.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.

Greetings, those of Wisp Innovations,

It is nice to hear from you, Assistant Director Bales. The assistance with the colonization of Planet Yuma is much appreciated. I will have the needed materials sent over to you at once.

Signed, Xi de Mortis

Dear Xi De Mortis,

We appreciate such a swift response. The shuttle carrying the samples has only just arrived. Our science division estimates between 16-48 hours before they have analyzed them thoroughly. They hypothesize that there is a naturally occurring enzyme in all of the indigenous flora on planet Yuma, that promotes the accelerated growth. Upon isolating this enzyme, they hope to limit or control it, and perhaps even re-purpose it. As soon as they have found what they are looking for, we will update you.

GalSpan hopes to have a long and fruitful relationship with the Crayter Republic.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.

Dear Xi De Mortis,

As you know, our scientists had already theorized what was causing the accelerated growth on planet Yuma. They worked through the night analyzing the samples we received; they discovered exactly what they were looking for. The following is a draft of their report to Director Richardson. Director Richardson has allowed me to send a copy of the report for your records.

“Dear Director Richardson,

We have discovered the cause of the accelerated growth. The culprit is a naturally occurring Ribozyme (a type of enzyme) which causes a catalytic effect. In this case, it accelerates the absorption of nutrients into energy, causing a growth rate fifty times what would be considered normal. It only took a few hours to track down, once we knew what to look for.

We have named the Ribozyme ‘Y-823’ for Yuma, year 823 A.S. which we have also saved samples of for preservation.

We spent the remainder of our time exploring the genetic code of the Ribozyme. We developed a modified Ribozyme that, once fused with ‘Y-823’, alters its genetic code, slowing the growth rate to approximately two and a half times. This is a reduction rate of 95%, which we consider more than acceptable. It would certainly allow the flora to be contained by conventional means. This affect should also be spread to seedlings that come from the altered flora.

We have named our modified Ribozyme ‘GS-941’ for GalSpan. The numbers were chosen as the solar time of successful formulation.

As ‘GS-941’ only alters the Ribozym ‘Y-823’ we do not believe it to be harmful to humans in any way, although more thorough testing will be needed to prove that theory. In order to implement ‘GS-941’, we have been working on an aerosol spray to implement ‘GS-941’ into the indigenous flora of planet Yuma. We have since given this project the codename ‘Lynx’. We will forward our report to you as soon as ‘Lynx’ is ready for testing.

Signed,
Project Lead, Dr. Albert Zeiler”

The report is a few hours old. A canister of the aerosol spray ‘Lynx’ has since been synthesized and sent to our office. Here at GalSpan, we pride ourselves on our efficiency. I have since forwarded it to our Merchant Division for shipping. We will send it to you for testing purposes. We hope these results have been satisfactory.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.

Assistant Director Bales,

The Crayter Republic thanks you for your speed. With these tests I hope that we can find ourselves the way to make Yuma our home.

I will contact you again once the sample has reached my lab. Unfortunately the flora of Yuma grows even when harvested for lab work, forcing us to dispose of them after awhile. This will take a bit of time. I hope that we have found it.

Dear Xi De Mortis,

Take all of the time that you require. GalSpan will continue supplying the Crayter Republic as usual. If you desire any further assistance from us, our team of scientists would be more than glad to help in any way. They are currently producing more of the 'Lynx' aerosol spray, and Director Richardson has requested extensive testing to prove that 'Lynx' is not harmful to humans.

We hope to hear from you as soon as you are able, and we will maintain communications in kind.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.

Assistant Director Bales,

The R&D Division has extensively tested the aerosol spray "Lynx" on much of the flora that is on Yuma, and we are pleased to report it is quite effective...though we will need a controlled test planetside to see how it affects the flora in their natural habitat. If we could have a greater quantity sent over, the Republic will let you know it's effectiveness in the natural habitat of our...floral foe.

Until next time.

Dear Xi De Mortis,

We're pleased to hear from you. We've anticipated this request, and are already mass-producing 'Lynx', which already has patents pending in multiple houses, along with other products we are preparing. One product is designed to increase produce output considerably, and without need for any fertilizers, or FloraGro. We've produced approximately 2 metric tons of 'Lynx' and I will draft the order for shipping before I leave the office tonight. We hope that quantity will allow you to effectively test 'Lynx' in the field, and we'd love to read your report of it's effectiveness.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.

Assistant Director Bales,

Two metric tons should work just fine for our final testing. I will prepare an area planetside to prepare for the arrival of Lynx.

A report will be made available to you once testing is complete. We do thank you greatly for this assistance.

Dear Xi De Mortis,

I have drafted the shipping order. The Captain responsible for transporting the 2-metric ton supply of Lynx is Alexander Chase. His ship, a Titanic Heavy Tanker which is also named Lynx (interestingly enough), will transport the cargo to Sabah Shipyard. We expect Captain Chase's report within a few hours or less. Once there, you will be able to claim the delivery at your leisure. We hope that Lynx is as effective in the field as it is in the lab.

Sincerely,
Assistant Director Bales.
The Galactic Spanning Corporation.
