A desktop grade 950 is not the same as a laptop, sir.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I've got one and I'm happy with it. It serves me now for 8 months providing 26 FPS on medium settings in Witcher 3, while it's also playable on high. It has no problems with Freelancer - disco runs fine, Star Wars Battlefront, WoWs, Ryse: Son of Rome and some other titles runs fine too. Skyrim runs smooth on highest settings too. And it's along with AMD FX-6300 and 8gb RAM, so Core i5-6400 should behave even better.

Maybe the only thing I could complain about is Grainward's two ventilators, which make GPU run rather loud, while my friend's one runs way more silent (it's gtx 750ti with 2gb too, but from different manufacturer)

I would say something that would be stated as "I know", but it would not be suited for forums. Anyways yes I know.

Always make sure the goodies you want are compatible to your motherboard. I forgot to check the first time and ended up with a pc that wouldn't boot at all. Oops.

My budget is around $570. If, for example, I buy everything except the GPU:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 quad core (2.7/3.3GHz, 6MB Cache, 350MHz-950MHz )
MOTHERBOARD: MSI H110M PRO-D
RAM: 8GB kit (2x4GB) Kingston or Corsair
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair VS Series VS650, ActivePFC,

That will cost me $320 (prices from Amazon for the sake of this example). That leaves $250 for the GPU. I suppose I could got a bit overboard with the GPU budget, if needed.

I'm considering either of GTX 950/960/1060/750 Ti (hooray for Nvidia)
By the way I'm finding multiple "variants" of each model. How much could those be different from one another?

Also sindroms. If you don't mind could you share your system specs? I want to take a look at them, for general comparison.

Since I pretty much left this thread in the dust, I would like to give it a closure.

A few weeks ago I found a local seller that offered me a bunch a PC parts for a (in my opinion) a very good price. I got...

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P5G41T-M LX2/GB/LPT
RAM: 2x2GB Kingston DDR3 Dual-Channel @ 1066MHz (mobo supports up to 8GB)
POWER SUPPLY: Cooler Master 520W (can't see the model right now)
CASE: Cooler Master Elite 430 Black
DVD DRIVE: LG

All of the above cost me 89 Euros (97 USD). That is no typo. Of course the parts are used and aren't exactly current or last gen. However for this price its a very good deal. Plus. it's still much better than my old setup.

I build the PC myself and I had a blast doing it. To my surprise I had no issues what so ever and it worked perfectly on the very first power on.

All I have to do now is get a graphics card. I've read that the CPU combined with a good GPU can run games (almost) as well as a modern CPU.

That CPU is starting to age a lot though, the Intel Core 2 aged very well but keep in mind that it's still rather old.

I wouldn't suggest getting a top of the line graphic card, get a cheap one because the big ones will more than likely totally bottleneck your older CPU.

Of course. I wont be getting a 1060 or anything like that. I think that just a descent graphics card will do well for this setup.

The GPU you have chosen is old, it all depends on how much you want to spend
