Chesapeake Shipyard ->LN |rep = LI16_03_Base, li_n_grp
cheers guys,
need some clarification please.
as two of us (indie LN faction) just went to Alaska and noticed the 5th/LN vs LSF brawl, we came closer but did not engage as i thought this was for official factions only.
Yet short after the official navy were defeated / retreat a bit, the LSF guys wrote a few lines of RP and attacked us.
So was this just a "mistake" from the official LSF or are indies actually allowed to take part in this?
Someone with a semblance of RP sense would understand that sitting next to Kodiak, while the LN and LSF are actively engaged, is not a good idea. I saw Secondary turrets flying at things, from your general direction, and worked off the assumption of "Well, there are 3 LibDreads and an LAC here, and 22 secondaries just flew by. Kill them."
Call it a "mistake" if you like, but it was intentional.
Nobody in the LSF is going to report anyone if you're an indie and you engage. Feel free to participate, even if it is against your ID rules.
Now that I've said that, it would qualify as a malicious sanction if I were to report you. Have fun.

well "next to kodiak" being 10K away at anytime and exact number of shots fired from us: 0....as we knew exactly how it would look if we were to fire anything.
RP wise its a bit difficult to explain why only some navy / lsf ships are allowed to shoot each other anyway.
But thanks for having cleared up that indie/official problem for future encounters. See you around.

Which is why I said that if you'd like to engage, feel free. I'd like to assume it was an oversight on the part of the admin team, though I'm of fair certainty it wasn't.
Also, it's nearly impossible to actually discern with any certainty who or where shots are coming from in Alaska. I can't see Heavy Mortars outside of 250m, for instance. I saw what looked enough like Secondaries for me to think they were, and I saw lots of them. To me, that means "there's a Carrier shooting at us."
Also, at multiple points, you were directly adjacent to Kodiak. When the Glendale and Arkansas were chasing me away from the station, you were within 2k of it.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but it is entirely possible that the admins decided to make it an official faction only event in order to avoid what would be an immediate influx of the more PVP oriented members of the community making Indie ships to go at each other. We have all witnessed what happens in the past when events are made with allowances for indie players to join the frey, and it always turns into one side complaining about unfair numbers and the inability to do anything in the event given the skill, numbers and blah blah blah, #PVPwhoreissues.
This is of course how I see the admins decision and personally think it's a good one. If all of you that are complaining about not being able to go pew pew as an indie in this event were to actually join the official factions involved, then I'm sure that would be better in the long run, both for the faction, and the players. Of course, you won't be able to join both factions and shoot at whoever is online whenever you please, which is yet another issue that arises from indie allowed events. Someone spots a player on from one side of the fight and they log an indie vessel on the opposing side, then, once they get their blue, they spot someone on their current side logging, and thus, log for the other side and get yet another blue. This is an issue that has been around forever when it comes to events and pretty much any real situation with a lot of ships on either side, thus, I'm sure the admins made this event in such a way as to avoid such complications and anger.
seeing the pace of the event, might want to consider making a few event indie IDs, one called Loyalist Navy and one called Seperatist navy, and allow those to participate in the event aswell
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

The problem can be directly attributed to one fact:
We are only allowed to fight in Alaska.
I've asked for that to be changed, and I'm running into a brick wall.

I would totally participate if we could do that. Unfortunately as I am not part of the Navy right now this event is totally past me.
The kill counter isnt recording correctly, I guess. I am almost positive that we have at least 8-10 kills total so far.
Only problem is that the =LSF= only logs when the [LN] logs, and only if they walk into Alaska(which we mostly don't. Its boring there. Pre-event it was about as used as Ile-De-France, Bremen or Humbolt)
