First and foremost, I should address what moderators actually do. - When you're brought onto the moderation team, you do more than merely watch the forums for posts which break forum rules. You're also expected to comment on anything that requires input from the team. Sanction reports. SRP Requests. The whole deal. Their responses to these sections are used both as something to help the Administration process things quicker, but it allows us to get a feel on how the staff member works. How he/she thinks. It's an excellent way to observe how someone thinks.
Sindroms during his time as a Moderator has most certainly proved that he's not here in order to ruin people's fun. In fact, he's taken extra steps which moderators aren't required to do, in order to 'help' bring some more fun concepts to Discovery. The biggest of his contributions being events.
Events are time consuming to create and run. However without even being asked, he was someone who went out of his way to talk to the Administration one-on-one with suggestions on what can be improved. To create event ideas, only to work closely with someone to see that it actually gets done.
On top of having conversations merely regarding events, Sindroms has spoken to me personally quite often regarding the state of Discovery in general. - If I felt during any of these conversations that he was going to act malicious if he were to receive a promotion, he wouldn't be here right now.
In recognition of everything that he's been doing lately, Sindroms was not a bad choice in the slightest when the discussion of adding someone onto the team came up.

Great response @"King Boo" - People are hung up on what someone has done in the past, that you can't see how someone has changed in the present/future. As you said, if he wanted to ruin people's fun, he would've.
I for one have had a couple great discussions with him prior to being on the staff, as well as helping train him and @Thyrzul when they were added as Mods with forum stuffs. I have faith in him, I see a change, and I think he'll be a kickass addition to the team.
Well look at that, @sindroms going green. Well... I'm quite fresh here, so I don't really know about anything bad you done, even though I noticed torpedoes and found them a little questionable.
I remember similar guy from my time as a dev and GM on several private RP WoW servers. That guy got himself banned on several servers, managed to destroy several others and had a terrible reputation. When he proclaimed he changed and wanted to help, I was the first one who was against it, pointing out all the things he done. I never trusted him, because his record was one terrible thing after another. I never gave him a chance. And I don't really regret it even now.
What I want to say @sindroms... They gave you chance to prove yourself. Something I would probably never do if I knew your past, as I never did with that other guy and I believe a lot of other people here would do the same as me too. So... don't waste it mate. From what I was able to see you certainly have potential and I have my fingers crossed for you.
Don't waste it. And good luck. And I'm still waiting for your thoughts about the event I sent you...

Please, welcome our new Administator of the Discovery Gaming Community - Spazzydragon a.k.a. @sindroms

This is really sad actually, a former instigator of the bass hunters and former member of the DPC has now made his way to an admin position.
The worm truly has eaten at the core of discovery. Disgusting!!
@sindroms You were apart of two trollish institutions that brought this server to its knees and they have made you admin. You nearly destroyed us.
Have we all gone mad? People really dont remember the madness we went through removing with them.
@sindroms stay away from me I dont like you man, not at all.
A few good acts does not absolve one from a lifetime of sin!

Thanks, mate. And I will make sure to return the favor.
I am actually pleasantly surprised that all of the people who were around for the cap8 and DPC thing are still present on Disco. I am glad that many people here know what kind of frackery I was a part of in the past. And not just the DPC, but all the subsequent stupidity from my side.
I am glad that this thread turned out to be filled with concerns about this decision. It means that I actually have something to prove in this position. That this is not as clear cut as "Well, of course he got admin, he has the youtube and tutorial and event thing going". It means that that alone is not going to be enough and it is a good thing.
For those of you who came out to shake your fist at me, hold that thought. I am very much inclined to prove you wrong. And I promise I will keep server-crashing mistakes to a minimum.
If anything, I also hope you realize that this is the point where I simply cannot go back to my regular nonsense. This position is an ultimatum as well. It is something that I was explained to -quite- well.
And you know what? I am up for that challenge.
See you in space.
Also what a way to rub it in our faces, no guilt expressed there. I see through you sindy you dont fool the spider!
I find it funny to see who cries loudest against Spazzy's appointment to the staff (Duvelske Gamergirl and Black Widow) - not exactly white vest players, whereas many of those who play clean seem to be on the "let the man prove himself" side.
What I find noteworthy is that Spazzy very quickly got the event system to work, started making events that actually worked. Disco feels more lively, and attracts > 100 players when events are on. And we can only have those when we have Admins who are capable and willing to write them up.
Moreover, Spazzy actually knows a lot about how the game is played. A problem with staff (for ages) has been that few of them actually play the game often enough (on non-admin ships) to know what is going on. I hope Spazzy does not succumb to that same fate of inactivity.
Furthermore, I also see his appointment as something like an "insurance" against going back to destructiveness.
You're funny BW. I wonder if you've ever done something you weren't proud of/did something foolish/did something you regret, and changed for the better after the fact... and I wonder if there are people who will never forgive you despite those changes, who condemn you because of mistakes you made in the past (And if you have seen previous posts by Spazzy in other threads, he has apologized and discussed what happened) despite trying to make amends, and would repeatedly spew hateful/rude things at you.
Oh, and so much hate over a video game... Take a break BW, and maybe learn some compassion/acknowledge that people can change. Because I refuse to believe you are a saint who has never done something wrong in your life that affected others, and I truly wonder how you feel if those people would never forgive you and treat you like crap over those mistakes that in the grand scheme of things, are minuscule.

For the love of the christmas. Go away BW. The past doesn't dictate the future and if you were the spider, I'd turn the tap on and wash you away.
I have high hopes @sindroms will do a good job of Admining this place and comes as no surprise to me having seen his moderation work. Honestly it's in my opinion that a chance is in order here. Mistakes were made and to be frank I don't know nor really care what they were exactly or to any detail. Times and people change, It'd be unfair to deny someone the chance to prove themselves. Personally I think Sindroms is a fine addition to the team and wish him the best of luck with the new title.
