The way I see it, independent Military players should:
A) Enforce your respective House Laws (and no others, including made up ones). Making up rules to pvp/grief players is terrible, on any sort of game.
B)Respect the authority of the Official Factions
[i]After all, they went through the effort to become official. They also produce the laws and guidelines in the Houses
C) Don't instantly roleplay yourself as the Supreme Ruler of Sirius This point applies to many characters, not just navy personnel. Try roleplaying as a lower rank, instead of just buying a Dreadnaught with an inappropriate-sounding name and roleplay...
As long as the independent roleplays fine, I'm fine with them existing. My problem is with independent players who don't roleplay at all. Perhaps there should be in Factions which has some naming guidelines? I hate to see cruisers and such with ridiculous names.

thats hpow it should be but you also have to take into acount that most factions requior you to do things on a regular basis(ie post in message dumps)which take time and a lot of gamers dont sometimes have the time to fit into a faction henvce the "freform indies"or like myself dont like getting bashed for just playing my part im in the 106th im left alone for the most part its ok for me however i have the time for a faction i prefer independent roleplayed groups
Quote:One member, Zapp being the one I think you're referring to, who has amazing RP abilities does not represent all members of the clan.
First, thanks. Second, it does. I can call two other people in the NC my friends, and everyone has great RP.

Awww, but I make up lots of rules on my LPI all the time!:D
There is no such thing as official independent military or police forces/units. Such things are generally called mercenaries or private security firms who hire out security guards to maintain security. In all those cases they are almost exclusively part of a large organisation, not loner individuals or vigilantes.
So either join the official faction, become a bounty hunter/mercenary, get your indie registered with the official faction, or get shot to death for impersonation of a police/military officer. Bit harsh, but it is completely unrealistic otherwise in terms of RP. Indies who don't follow the chain of command? Yeah...ok. That makes them a vigilante, and they are never sanctioned by any official government or organisation.
I would ordinarily completely and totally agree with you, but in this case, my perspective differs;
For Bretonia, as I've said, the QCRF is explicitly stated to be a small, eccentric umbrella organisation within the QCRF with an odd relationship to the Admiralty. Given there are 11 Admirals, that provides plenty of people for those wishing to RP BAF to RP under.
For Liberty, the only situation in which I cannot see the existence of independents is the LSF. You could ask Brian and roleplay an unmarked agent, but otherwise it is like the RM, since the LSF is called the Liberty Security Force and led by a Director, it's clearly the modern-day version of the LSF that Juni worked in.
I'm honestly not that familiar with the BPA, so I'll have to pass on this one. If they aren't the BPA policing all of Bretonia, then they should change the name, though.
Otherwise, Liberty Police Inc (though they should change their name to reflect this) are only a single squadron (particularily considering the different kinds of people in LPI, from sinister, corrupt cops making crime to generate money to bungling Keystone Cops), which leaves enormous room for roleplay out of that squadron, and Liberty has 2 Fleet Admirals, meaning whoever wants to RP Navy and not join SA should RP under the Northern Fleet Admiral.
The Kaigun/Kusari Naval Forces (like the LPI, they should change their name to reflect this) are headed over by one Taisho. There are undoubtedly more (if you subscribe to my fanfiction and extrapolation, there are 11 more) and the 'independents' could RP someone under their command.
See my comments on the BPA for my comments on the KSP.
Rheinland is where I think "Okay, there is a faction headed over by two Grosseadmirals, called the Rheinwehr/Rheinland Military. It has the Kanzler appearing above the Grosseadmirals and a detailed command structure. These Grosseadmirals are clearly the bosses of the Admirals flying battleships around New Berlin."

// I agree with all of your points here, and I intend to do all of the above. I am working on a Regular BAF pilot that wants to be just a regular military pilot. (Still working on the background story) But since there is not a regular BAF group that I have found, I will probably be a Inde pilot. I am in the process of finding all the laws of Bretonia and assorted addendums. I would also like to be able to just tag along and assist any BPA or QCRF to help my RP. Just remember that many of us Independants just need a little training in and/or assurance that we can really fit in. GO BRETONIA!!!!!
1. Where to these independents find the money to even get anything larger then a gunboat?
2. Where do they find enough crew to get the thing into space.
3. Oh, and lets not forget that the House governments do not sell their ships to anyone outside the registered faction for that House Navy.

We do police all of Bretonia, and we do RP as more or less the entire BPA, except as members of the BPA, not the BPA itself.

military indie can enforce the law AS THEY PLEASE. They could set a fine of 100 Million for smuggling if they wanted, that there would be nothing wrong despite being an obvious excuse at blasting your ship.
Doesn't mean they should do as they wish. But the fact is, no server rule tells them they can't, and as long as there's no server rules about it, what are these heated discussions serving to? I doubt an admin even peek more than 5 second in it.
For a change everyone can stay out of Liberty and populate Rheinland or Kusari or Bretonia OR EVEN THE BORDERWORLDS!! instead of lingering in New York and whining they cant smuggle or that they get raped because they are trying to pirate in the capitol of Liberty (right, because if we didnt shot you down you'd laugh at us for being incompetent... uhu) Because I'll bet my hand all these accusations are all held against Liberty after a bad night at doing criminal activity or something, even though it claims to be house wide.
So, go ahead, get out of New York as said so many time. There's more than that single route for cardi (yes, really, there are!)
