Raven's Talon is one of the best very heavy fighters available for pirates and mercenaries - and surely most expensive.
"One of the best.. and "most expensive" Doesn't quite work with Xenos for me... not if every xeno has it. But a few yes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I actually think RT is a great ship for 1vs1 for certain type of loadout, partly due to beiing non-vanilla and partly due to the great gun positioning and big powerplant.
Not a ship for huge fights though.

If you don't have problems with the Xenos buying the Eagle, then there should be no problems with them buying a RT. I mean, it isn't even 300 thousand. Even if you consider the Black Market "fees" for them to circumvent the apparent Junker control, we'd be saying what, another 30% over it? It's still a nominal amount when you take into account what they can get without questioning.
And as for the ship being good for 1 vs 1, it depends on the pilot's fighting style and, in their particular case, I don't think they do much 1 vs 1, unless the other 1 is a gunboat or heavier.
And why not making this ship the official of Navy, Bretonia, Kusari and Rheinland militaries ? In addition with Outcasts, corsairs, mercs and any freelancer who want one, then, ANYBODY WOULD BORROW THIS SHIP AS THEY WANT !
THIS WOULD MAKE ANYBODY HAPPY ! NO ?!
Oh ! I forgot Zoners, BD, Mollies, Repex, BPA, LPI, Rheinland Police, Kusari Police, ALG, GMG, LWB, Hessians, IC, IS, Terraformation,... Do I really need to spell them all ?
This ship is supposed to be sold ONLY for BD and at Gran Canaria, a Zoner base in a system locked by CORSAIRS ! What's the matter ? I love this one, but anybody seems to say it's big s?~t ! No talking about the ones reminding it's a Star Wars one... WHY ANYBODY WANT ONE ?! IF YOU REALLY DOES, MAKE YOU A CHAR TO FLY IT UP ! INSTEAD OF ALLOWING IT FOR ANYBODY WITHOUT ANY THINKING BEHIND THIS ! C'MON ! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RP SERVER ! IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO KEEP YOUR WEAKNESSES TO PRESERVE YOUR RP CHAR, GO TO A PvP ONE AND ASK FOR THE PLANS TO TRANSFER RT INTO THIS ONE !
EDIT : I now realise that I'm a very flaming guy... But some things are annoying me more than I would rather... To illustrate my way of thinking : my LR doesn't fly a cap, and I'll make a cop flying a Patriot at this rate...
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?

the rules.
If the admins and community allowed that (among the "i stole it!" "I found it!" etc.) excuse, then anyone from any faction could have any ship. Same goes for weapons.
I'm coming from a sensible standpoint, make no mistake. What I'm saying is that this ship in particular would not be looked after any more than the Eagle. If he asked Wrath, Avenger, Hussar, Catamaran, Titan, I'd say, "Hell no!"
Problem is that the Infocard of the ship says: "Excellent speed (this one must be a joke), extended power capacity, and well known quality standards of IMG made this ship popular on black market.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:The underground economy or black market is a market consisting of all commerce on which applicable taxes and/or regulations of trade are being avoided.
So tell me, is this ship in the black market or it isn't? Because the infocard says it is.
Also, I'd be happy if you showed me in the rules where it says that this ship is restricted.
"Raven's Talon was made by IMG for commercial purposes Excellent speed, extended power capacity, and well known quality standards of IMG made this ship popular on Black Market. Raven's Talon is one of the best very heavy fighteravaible for pirats and mercenaries-and surely most expensive"
What a PvPer sees What a RPer sees
Xenos are <strike>pirats</strike> terrorists, they can only fly the ships they are able to make themselves. Moreover, it is made for commercial purposes, selling it to people who wants to destroy any stranger isn't really good for these...

if thats the case, the xenos should stick to their fighters, and the random eagle, since its so expensive to buy. but do you think that would happen? no. because, the xenos stand no chance, especially at the increase of cap ships they have to deal with, both lawful AND unlawful (ie: rogues, and outcast dessies/gb spam in NY)
on behalf of the pvper. tell me, have you ever flown the thing? the infocard, it says summit, but its actually an entirely different ship when flown. it flies like a brick (though i cant tell the difference, since it doesnt affect my fighting style). its agility was nerfed since it was 'uber' in 4.83
if the xenos can purchse eagles, and even civilian bombers (which, incidentally are more expensive than the eagle, obviously), they can definitely afford a few R talons. and since it is for sale on the black market, as the info card states, who are you to state its OORP? you consider it bad roleplay, because of what the infocard states?
personally, id say let the xenos have the R talons.
Pim, mate, calm it down...take a nice deep breath and step back from the keyboard.
Personally, I don't see a problem with it long as it's restricted to ranking members. It's expensive, but that shouldn't stop some Xenos from paying for it. The price difference between the Talon and the Eagle is fairly negligible. I say leave it be and stop making noise.

Let me correct you there, pim. The so called PvPer won't bother look at an infocard at all. He'll open FLStat and look for this:
Raven's Talon
Nanos/Shields: 65
Max Angular Speed (rad/s): 1.1429
Angular Distance from 0 to 0.5 sec (rad): 0.3616
Time to 90% Max Angular Speed (s): 0.4605
Power Capacity: 12400
Power Recharge Rate: 1270
...amongst other things. The new guys that orient themselves to PvP only may be seduced by the infocard, but they'll curse the salesperson as soon as they launch the dock and try to steer the ship (it takes a fair pilot to make good use of a slow ship).
Also, I'll tell you this, my mercenary will re-sell this ship for a 30% margin any time of the week. I think it is you that aren't really considering a meaningful scenario here. If the game is supposed to portray some sense of reality, then let's portray it with its ugly aspects included. If the infocard states that the ship is at sale in the black market, forget about restricting it. As soon as you launch from the dock, whoever has sold it, won't have any idea (and won't even care) about where that ship is going.
That's different from a defense contract and official hardware. Military ships aren't "sold", they are assigned to trained personnel and accounted for at all times. For you to get your hands on an Avenger, you'd have to pull a hell of a good trick. And there I agree, "I stole it" doesn't cut it.
