Artifacts, 99% of the time, are inert, inanimate objects.
As @"Auzari" said, it's extremely rare - if not impossible to find one working artifact in the billions that enter circulation from the black market, sorted or otherwise. Even more so, Artifacts can't be interacted with unless you're a Nomad. They require a specific source of energy to activate, and more often that not they're damaged beyond use and are nothing more than paperweights or wall decorations to put on display for collectors.
Artifacts themselves - the ones we all know and love - are crystal-like objects that serve a minor purpose. They can be keys, they can be storage devices, they can be... Lights, for all we know. Without something on their level (Nomad Energy) to interact with, they will not work. They cannot work. The Tome from vanilla was a way to further understand the complexity of their design and operate them at a minimal level, as humans lack the ability to completely interact with an Artifact on their own. Infectees not withstanding.
The lore is currently being redone. I provided my advice and suggestions for it to make far more sense out of it. So yes, you'll have to deal with it until it's completely up and finished rather than throwing fits over the summarized versions.
I'd like to put your attention at something a bit different. You should put more effort - aka pics, formatting etc. into MindShare's posts. It will look cooler and be easier to read. I'm not denying the value of text, but it could make it easier and more appealing to read
Poor show, Nyx. That's literally what I accuse you: Shadowlogging. How often will you do that now? Every time I move through Cassini? Switching from your Marduk in Delta to your Rabisu in Kepler to intercept me there?
Uhm, you also could simply stop switching ships over half of sirius stalking me on the player list to hunt me down, waiting for me in Cassini. That's the worst kind of behavior, literally. You're a shame for K'hara if you are proud of abusing the ID for that. Do I really need to put the logging notifications back on to counter your metagaming?

Do you want me to post the logs of the group chat before we docked and I swapped back after we chased a Resheph?

I didn't switch for you.
I switched for whoever was silly enough to afk trade pass Cassini/Kepler, and you just happened to be one of the people who use the same route constantly. They do say going off the trade-lanes in RP is highly dangerous. Which it is.
And lolno, I was in a fight in Delta, that's why I was 'suddenly switching' - because it ended.
Stop this nonsense.
