The Nighthawk is a Storta class destroyer that served in the secondary Maltese fleet for many years. Commanded by Pablo Alvarez, it joined the Commune due to the commander's and crew's gratitude towards what Nomak and his people had done for Malta, during the Raiders' era.
Its role is that of a support vessel, not to be on the first lines. Sometimes, the Commune personnel uses it to stop and rest or even gather when they are away from any base of operations. In 12.2.824 A.S. it was sent to Corsica and it underwent reconstruction as to be refitted with the latest technology used by Rheinland warships, provided by Das Wilde. It remains on Corsica still, but occasionally ventures into the surrounding areas for the purpose of reconnaissance and equipment testing.
| The Revenant
| Class:'Storta' Maltese Destroyer
| Status:Hibernation
The Revenant is the second Storta possessed by the Commune. As its name says, before it was brought to life per the Commune's request, it served a long career in Maltese secondary fleet until it was decommissioned due to old age and then left on the junkyard.
Like the Nighthawk, it was sent to Corsica to be reconstructed and refitted with technology provided from Rheinland, although, with more materials being required due to it's age and the period of inactivity. The rest of its equipment is more or less the same as on the Nighthawk, with the exception of more advanced quantum communication equipment. The vessel is currently serving as a mobile forward post for the Silver Sun.
Acquired from the used ship markets on Barrier Gate in 820 A.S, the Adjudicator went through an intense overhaul and refit process to bring in line with Commune regulations. It currently serves as part of the Commune's Omicron Flottila and as the mobile listening post of the Silver Sun cell.
Manned at all times by a crew of 20, and commandeered by Gabriel Thorne, the Adjudicator is usually seen within Outcast-controlled space, venturing out further only to provide support in sporadic engagements.
A surviving relic from the time of the Samarran Raiders, the Euphrates is a venerable slaver ship. Heavily modified with equipment designed to herd and contain a living cargo, it frequently operates on the Malta - Buffalo cardamine route.
Heavily automated and manned only by a skeleton crew, the transport is usually commandeered by the ruthless slaver Solomon Dunn, the man in charge of spearheading the Commune's business ventures - everything from Slaves and Weaponry to the Maltese Orange.
The Raiders, commanded by Overlord Jared Nomak, are the Commune's paramilitary division and are concerned with all things related to warfare. Comprised of hardened pilots from all walks of life, the Raiders terrorize the edge worlds and civilized space alike, pirating cargo shipments and destroying priority targets without remorse or second thought.
Operating in fighter wings, and possessing only a small amount of heavy vessels, the raiding hosts employ a variety of hit and run tactics in their operations in order to outsmart and outmaneuver what is usually a far more numerous and far better-equipped foe.
The Silver Sun is the smallest subset cell of the Commune, consisting only of a handful core individuals, followed by a dozen agents. The spiritual successor of the "Slithering Tongue" caste of the Samarran Raiders, the Silver Sun embodies the Commune's desire to operate discretely, move about in secrecy and stay one step ahead in the counter-intelligence game. It also provides internal coordination between the cells, acting as a sort of crypto-government.
It is overseen by one Overseer, one Specter, and up to five Emissaries that in turn manage dedicated Watchers and rings of spies, demagogues, and sleeper agents spread across Sirius. Primarily utilizing misdirection, subversive propaganda and often violence, the Silver Sun advances its primary goal - to destabilize the human governments in Sirius, and prepare the groundwork for the next stage of the Commune's plans.
Terminus R&D Division
| Role:Research, Development, Engineering and Fabrication
| Director:Dave Synk
| Primary HQ:Genesis Hall / Dreadnought Apotheosis (Mobile)
Terminus is Commune's primary research division, and is comprised of mostly non-combatant assets. Formed by the brilliant Doctor David Synk, the cell constantly seeks to draw experts from all over the sector, and incorporate them into the Commune's endless quest for new technologies and scientific knowledge.
Terminus is operated as a science directorate of peers, each working on separate but usually overlapping projects, concerning everything from theoretical physics to engineering.
The Cape Wrath asteroid was hollowed out over a decade ago by a group of enterprising Outcasts, to gain a solid foothold and project Maltese influence within Bretonia. Strike groups based from here often engaged the myriad of Outcast enemies in the region, raiding IMG convoys and confronting Corsairs and their allies in the stellar neighborhood. However, with the shift in political relations with Bretonia, and the advent of the Gallic threat, the base had become neglected. With rare supply runs, low manpower and lack of real allies in the region, the station and its inhabitants eked out a bare existence.
Seeking to move their operations to a more strategically advantageous position, the Commune saw the station and its difficult situation as an opportunity it could not pass. Nomad ruins on Darlington, the proximity of their Wilde allies in Drake, and relative proximity of systems of interest, made Cape Wrath and Newcastle a priority interest zone. Moving in, they assumed all responsibility for acquiring supplies that kept the base running, in exchange for using it as a base of operations in a privileged position. Nowadays, under the reign of a puppet base Administrator, they all but control the station.
Built inside an imposing asteroid towed to the foreboding Planet Carinea's orbit, Cape Wrath was originally used as a listening and logistics post. However, as they years passed, it attracted a great deal of religious sects due to its location inside the mythical Siniestre Cloud. Since then, it has served as both the refuge and political prison for a wide variety of self-proclaimed prophets, messiahs and their followers.
The Commune has always maintained a presence on board the station, either in form of supporters, or actual agents operating from its facilities. Given it's secluded location, and the nature and ideological climate of the station's inhabitants, the Commune has found that it could operate in and out of the station unnoticed; An advantage it tries to exploit to the fullest, especially in recent times.
In an ambitious undertaking, the Commune purchased the development rights to Planet Carinea from the National Council of Malta. Having surveyed the surface from orbit, the Terminus division located and designated a favorable construction site of the first ever industrial complex on the Planet. Touching down on the surface, they established a perimeter, constructed a shield generator, geothermal powerplant and some rudimentary facilities, most of which were partially or wholly underground. Given the planet's unique toxic environment, the construction was slow, owing to rigorous security measures designed to filter out toxins within the shield and prevent contamination of the facility.
With the Commune's refocus from Maltese affairs, the construction was halted. What was supposed to be the primary headquarters of the organization as a whole, remains a patchwork of partially finished facilities manned by a skeleton crew of Silver Sun analysts, stationed within the 'Null Section', the only section that is fully operational. Yet with the return to the Maltese theater, the facility is slowly becoming a project of interest once more, and the construction is intended to resume as soon as conditions are favorable. For now, however, it remains as a coordination hub for the Silver Sun, with the agents planet-side operating under radio silence, communicating with the rest of the Commune through a partially operational quantum relay.
