Seems to me you misunderstood his reply. There is not any single person which would "hold the keys". If someone is in such position, he can make ultimative decisions on his own, like shutting things down. That´s something nobody can do in case of Disco. Even if Conrad would stop paying for the server, someone else would take his position.
As I understand it, keys to Disco are on the peg so to say and several people has access to them, but no one can take them away for himself because several staff members have reserve keys.
What is definitely good.
Not really.
More like the rest of us have copies of the house that we can remove the shrinkwrap off of within a moments notice if something goes south and someone forgets to pay rent.
thanks for giving an answer to my question S. ...now, next question: since only one of those mentioned has any desire to participate in the community & that is tenuaus at best, what is the back-up plan to keep this place running? As you illustrate, what we have now is nothing more than touch-&-go atm
I honestly sympathize...I imagine this is all a nightmare to deal with, otherwise, it've been easier to be upfront & not blow smoke, yeah?
So...What we have to deal with is Alley at the top & the hope that those who have left the community will continue to help run it out of obligation?
Well, not really. As I said - it has been working like this for more than half a year now and there have been no issues with it so far. We do already have a backup hosting service ready to transfer all of the stuff to if either of the current payers/hosters drop off. The downtime would not be long, just to get the VM set up.
Either way - it is not a big deal and nothing we are fretting over right now. A plan B is ready if we need it.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

You've clarified that the server is touch-&-go for at least the past 6 months...& that's no small feat...but my ultimate concern is the long term viability of the server, and what I see is a pair of showbiz admins flying by the seat of their pants.
I would love to be wrong, being a former showbiz admin myself, but what we are dealing with imho, is a overriding problem that y'all are trying to minimize...hence the ridicule you both gave me.
This place ain't what it used to be, but be effin' honest about our problems, & you might be surprised how far that can carry us all
As it stands, y'all have shown a scary low level of confidence in the community based on initial defensiveness in this thread .
Moving past that reality, What can we all do to help?
In return, y'all need to step off your high horses & have the balls to 'effin ask for help
anything less is unacceptable.
You'd be surprised what can happen when you stop being on the defensive & fess up to the reality of how y'all actually feel doing the job.

The low level of confidence is only in you, as you are the sole person still being disrespectful in this thread.
You should be glad you even got answers with that attitude.

& again, alley, you show that your ego overides reality.
You are really good at what you do, but you also have a bloated ego. Your opinion as to my tone is irrelevant. What you show so far here is nothing but defensive fear.
As I said before alley, either speak to my questions or get lost.
I'd like to hear your actual opinion, but you have to get over yourself first
I agree with Marburg though my time of yelling has long gone and complacency took over if I was to have any hope of enjoying the base line game as a core sim.
Transparency, openess and the ability to both look for help and share the workload is what I believe in and as such I feel that there is a distinct grip these 'active' admins have over the control of who can and can't be spoonfed or punished accordingly.
Spaztic himself took the punishment of one player upon himself and outright purged their RP from the game over something trivial. This is the same guy who has been banned, has ransomed the server and shown people how to cheat because he was mad. Yet he was voted from mod to admin in mere months under the guise that he's a changed person. Is he though? Mark my words of purging a player out of brashness as a direct correspondence of exactly what I mean regarding a changed person.
So what is it we have as the team that leads us and what long term objectives these people have, if any?
I'd like to see more than just Spaztic and Denis doing critical forums stuff. Spaztic may say he has no issues, but how long can we expect the one man band to uphold the virtues of the server we expect of him and his colleagues when there seems to be a bad guy in charge of all the good ones?

Asking for a minimum of respect in your wording equals bloated ego
That's a new one
