Greetings, esteemed members of Bretonia War Cabinet. My name is Clarissa Fairchild and I’m addressing you on behalf of a new joint venture of Ageira Technologies and Deep Space Engineering, Cold Lake Consortium. The Consortium aims to combine the best from the two corporations for one ambitious goal: improve Jump Gate technology so we can establish direct connections across distances insurmountable for conventional Jump Gates.
We are proud to announce that the first stage of our Hypergate project was successful. Ageira scientists developed and verified fundamental principles and designed the Jump machinery. DSE engineers built the Experimental Jumpgate, tested and proved that it is working as expected.
The next stage of our project is to establish connection to the remote system beyond the reach of conventional jump technology. Given special relations between Republic of Liberty and Kingdom of Bretonia, we decided to propose to the Bretonian War Cabinet that the second Hypergate will be built within Bretonian space. If the project will work as expected, this will also give both Houses a tactical opportunity in fighting the common enemy - Gallia.
Therefore, we request permission to conduct a survey in Bretonian space to find a site suitable for construction of the second gate. We will appreciate any suggestions based on analysis of security situation within Bretonia. We are also ready to comply with terms and conditions you may come up with and provide any additional information upon you request.
The Cabinet read about your organization with interest, even more in the light of the recent developments you claim to have made. The answer to your request is a yes.
You will obviously have to take some security measures. The construction site has to be far away from civial installations to not endanger the population in the unlikely case of a fault in the construction as well as far enough from the frontlines to not become a victim of raiding partys. The most promising location in the eyes of the analysis made by us is the Poole system, preferably in the empty space behind planet Studland.
Poole is a system with a relatively good infrastructure for its remote location and a small civilian population along with a considerable police presence to protect the buildingside.
If another location seems more suitable to you this channel remains open for replies.
Dear Miss Clarke, your reply is incredibly inspiring. I informed my colleagues on the Board of Directors about your positive decision and they are just as excited about it as I am. We are grateful for this opportunity and will do our best to exceed your expectations with this project.
As an immediate next step, we will send recon mission to Poole system. It will collect astrophysical metrics of the system and calculate coordinates and spatial orientation matrix for the future gate. We will also assess security situation and come up with additional measures and precautions.
I will keep the Crown and War Cabinet updated on our progress regularly in this channel. Expect the next update once we are ready to start construction work.
Sincerely yours,
Clarissa Fairchild,
Ageira Innovations,
Cold Lake Consortium
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to update you on our progress with Cold Lake Project. Ageira experts determined the best location for the Experimental Gate within Poole system. The projected construction site is located 25K to the galactic south-south-east from Planet Lyndhurst, at the border of quadrants 7H and 7G. Our scientific teams carefully considered impact of all significant stellar bodies and asteroid clouds in the system to appropriately position the gate, and calculated the optimal orbit.
Now we are ready to move into construction phase of the project. First of all, Ageira will build a small outpost near the construction site. It will serve as a logistics hub for the materials and living quarters for construction crews. It is also imperative to ensure security of the Experimental Gate, so the station will host a small wing of 3-5 fighters of Ageira security division to provide escort to transports and engineering vessels.
Finally, we will contract Bretonian corporations to assist with delivery of various construction materials, so you could expect the economy of the Crown to benefit from this endeavor.
Please, let me know if the War Cabinet has any questions, objections or corrections to the plans presented above. I wish you a great day, ladies and gentlemen.
Apologies for the late response. I have to inform you the area around planet Lyndhurst is now considered off-limits due to a recent building project ordered by the Government. I can't share more with you for it is considered as classified information. As suggested early the construction site has to be far enough from the front lines to not become a victim of raiding parties. Your latest proposal holds a lot of risks for both sides - building so far away.
Our latest recommendation for you are the areas around planet Broadstone(1) or Studland(2). In this way our patrols from Newbury would be able to provide security more easily and keep enemies away from interfering with your work.
If you do not agree with this, please provide a suitable location considering the banned area around Lyndhurst. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Dear miss Clarke, this is unfortunate coincidence indeed. We can adjust our calculations for a new position, of course, however, neither of the suggested locations does satisfy us in terms of gravitational influence, as well as security of the project: too many prying eyes around, too close to major hubs in the system.
I noticed that the site we wanted to use is located just on the border of the secured area as marked on your map. We found it possible to move the site a few clicks to galactic south, so it is located in quadrant G7 of Poole space. The denial to enter the area around Planet Lyndhurst will, of course, complicate our logistics, but I believe we could manage it.
Please, let me know if this suggestion will work for the government of Bretonia. Given the circumstances, we want this project to be commenced as soon as possible.
