I think it would be logical to.
It's a balance change. Devs do not consult factions about ship balance, only about changes that would directly affect their roleplay ability. I.e. IFF and ID changes.
And a change from Geb (Carrier) to Geb(BattleCrusier) would affect them. Order needs mobile carriers in distant places of Sirius and so on. (Inrp)
Bustard.
In addition, you can roleplay your ship as a carrier without it being a carrier. I do it with my LABC, Mako and Bullhead.
Yea...I get that....I roleplay my Caracal, Decurion and Eros as carriers....
Cloak and jumpdrive should not work in combination.
It's silly.
And the complete idea of "being invisible" on a server that has trouble making interaction between players happen is bad. All cloaks should be removed anyway, as they run contrary to literally everything that is needed in a multi-player game. (If you need evidence, ask yourself: would you log for anything that has a permacloak on the ID when you see them on the player list? Answer: No. They are most likely cloaked anyway.)
You couldn't be more wrong. Battleships have already 15 minutes of cloaking juice and there has never been a problem with a battleship being cloaked for too long and avoiding interaction. Claiming that is stupid. The only problem most people have with cloaks is the fact they got buttcloaked somewhen and are not complaining for the sake of complaining. People don't use cloaks to avoid interaction. People use the player list to avoid interaction and log only when it is convenient. The Cloak is a security measure for all people who can't be arsed to get playerlisted over and over again. If you think cloaks are bad, you should ask yourself how bad it would be to remove a feature as essential as cloaks. You'd piss off people with that and cause them to log even less, because matter of factly, not everyone wants to get certain encounters forced upon themselves. People should always have the choice whether they want to interact with people or not.
Removing cloaks will just make not logging at all, flying off-plane or the consequent use of the player list more likely.

Apart from that, how many people have a permacloak? K'Hara, Wilde to a certain degree and Oracles. You won't find people having a lack of interaction with those. When they log, they are available for interaction.

Yes, and I have. Not to kill them of course, but to interact with the ship itself. Cloaks dont limit interaction, they limit pvp if you dont have a disruptor. There's nothing stopping you from writing them a PM and asking them inRP to meet you somewhere. Also, I don't think you should determine whether or not to log based on cloaks. Get in the game, play the game, reach your goals, pvp some more.
not saying cloaks should be removed. Cloaks add a surprise factor, makes fighting interesting and gives more option rather than charge, run or flank. the combination of cloak and JD is my issue. either cloaks shouldn't work with JD simultaneously or vice versa. if its not a general issue and just me then i just have to change my tactics and buy a whole lot of cloak disrupters. its a good tactic but rather annoying to be dragged away from great fights. there's my 2 cents
I think having both is totally okay (Bias alert *BWARP BWARP BWARP*), though the way they currently interact is a bit interesting. I encourage everyone to find all the ways to counter it. I think an excellent first step would be to make the jump itself end stop the cloak on the cloaked ship, or rather, the action of jumping overheats the cloak. That way when it is used and uncountered, you at least know who to immediately light up. There will be new items introduced that will make this much easier to handle.
Cloak, Cloak Disruptor, jump drive, survey module, and few new equipment that has been suggested for years, shuld all be mountable on equpment slots, so we will have to choose what combo we will have on BS and BC, while Carriers with more equipment slots and generaly worse Combat abilities, will have better selection and finally have something that are better in.
