**** started fallin' apart after 4.86...
Remember? They changed the Alpha-Gamma connection... (Alpha-Eta-Theta-Gamma).
So... is that the main reason driving ppl to leave? Just because the map was changed?

I'm guilty of this to an extent, myself... I don't even RP forum post these days. I really do want to get in game and RP - I like the dynamics of in-game RP more than forum formalities. I don't ever complain that Disco is dead, but I realize that I'm still part of the problem.
Maybe what I ought to do is just post in the Shoutbox inviting people to join my fiancé and I for some casual RP whenever we log in? I've got to start somewhere, and that seems like a good way to kick things off. The few times we've brought up the idea of our restaurant to people inRP have been met with positive responses.
Guilty for this my self to, i simply lack motivation to log-in only to be free blue message.

It's an old game. The market is growing non-stop, the game is almost inavailable worldwide if people don't share it on the net, people play this game for like more than ten years already and eventually get fed up by all kinds of things adding up. Many people who were around 5-10 years ago have started a career or a family or both. People also got fed up with other people of the community. ooRP circlejerks, powerplays, arguments on forum, the constant judgement about unwritten rules and etiquette, people unwilling to adjust to the community or the RP environment, etc. Nothing lasts forever, and while Freelancer is a good game, it's not a Diablo II that still is the best game of its genre and thus keeps the activity up world-wide. Apart from that, Discovery is an RP server, of a mod of a game older than the youngest community members around here. People constantly look for the one reason for people to leave, but they forget there are just as many reasons to play this or any other game as to exactly not do that. Old games die, but only slowly. It's natural degradation. It's up to everyone themselves whether they wish to boost that degradation or to fight it by having and providing fun.
This community has a horrendous reputation outside of these forums. I think that's a big reason why we're not attracting numbers to counter balance people leaving.

It's been continually shrinking since mid/late 4.85 but people didnt notice or mind until it shrunk more in 4.86 when they expected it to rise instead of shrink.
One of the main reasons why no one was/is ever able or willing to reverse the trend is because the people in charge are/were always more concerned with issues that affected the top 10% and never the issues that affected the entire population.

It's also the same reason why people who get to know the community leave, and why the community is unable to solve its own problems, and unable to solve even the most simple problems.
The only real problem the community has is the ability to make simple things become a problem. Discovery is simply not a game you should play when you're already coated in salt from things you don't like. Be it ingame or on forum or via Skype/Discord. Sometimes, the sandwich rule is everything it needs to solve things.
dota2 and LoL have a lot more salt than this place. its just that a lot of new games are coming up and not many are interested in an old game like this one

See, that's the kind of comment that is like shooting yourself in the foot. If you'd have read the thread, you'd have noticed that the feedback was presented in an acceptable way, other than the reaction. That being said, you'd do yourself a favor in less trying to denounce other people to have a minute of boasting and profiling and actually do something productive in that time.

Which thread do you mean? There are multiple faction threads that you ran into shouting, screaming, boasting, and profiling.
I've done a great deal of productive things ingame and on the forum. Unfortunately that will remain useless for as long as certain people make sure that it remains so.
