From what I recall, we have not had the pleasure since our excursion to Planet Baltum. I hope you are well and forgive the long silence on my part - sadly my schedule has been paved with business for long ahead. Still, I do hope we can enjoy a break over tea on my yacht someday soon.
In the meantime, I would like to inquire about a certain Dr. Adrian Wight, supposedly associate scientist at The University of Cambridge. He claims to have taken a spacecraft off your hands recently, The Titanic. Is there anything particularly unorthodox I should know about when dealing with this person or with the vessel he procured?
A pleasure, by the way. I've heard about your accomplishments as new head of APM. Now that the previous troublesome relations between the Apahanta and the Core have settled, I'd look forward to that cup of tea.
Dr. Wight is a fellow I happen to have met twice. Once in New York, where he made a pit-stop to chit-chat with people in the orbit of Manhattan. It appears he has a weird sense of humor. We played this funny game of "What useless superpower would you have if you could have one?" and he responded with Lactation-View, which causes everyone he looks at to lactate, regardless of the gender.
...
Anyway, the guy didn't make much of a suspicious impression to me. He said he was getting books from Manhattan for the University of Cambridge. He mentioned he studied the alterations of Cardamine to the human body. He doesn't like it when people don't refer to him by his actual name. I take it by now he is Doctor, as he mentioned he was working on that. He said he was back then employed at the Faculty of Biology and Anthropology of the University, researching bio-engineering under Dr. Martinez. He's the kind of person where you wouldn't even make a pun of that. He also mentioned he was interested in the work on, in his words, "practical application of Hyperspace jump technology to instantaneously transport humans from point A to B."
I found his announce on the neural net about him wanting to purchase a Bustard-class Carrier. I happened to have one, the so-called Titanic, a ship I stumbled upon in the very depths of the Edge Worlds. It was abandoned, life support not working, no survivors. We used the Apahanta to pull it to an allied shipyard, where useful stuff got salvaged and the ship got restored to an operational level. Wight inspected it, deemed it as alright enough and bought the ship. He now has a very basic, used Bustard-class carrier, without any upgrades or armament, at least not from us. I didn't get to ask him what he wants to do with it, but one would assume it is related to his department of research.
The Core has grown wise not to let past discord compromise what may vary well be a most promising friendship, and so have I.
As for our friend, Dr. Wight - it appears that his field of interest has broadened in a quite troubling direction. But rest assured that I shall keep a close eye on him and his work, so as not to let him fly too far off the handle.
Thank you Mr. Vertiga for sharing your insights - should I have any further inquiries, I will gladly let you know.
My invitation stands by the way - whenever you find yourself in need of a break.
