This is Admiral Knight of the Separatist Battlegroup Harmony speaking,
You people keep poor records that you're not having a hint of an idea what happened back then. Attacking our crippled forces while regrouping in Hampshire could have very well been the end. Yet it wasn't and here we are now, luckily far away from our end anytime soon.
What I'll certainly help you with is the list of attackers, clearly it's not complete, nebula interference, age and general chaos take its toll.
These are all we found for now. And I am still not quite sure how I- how we are supposed to trust someone who struck is in what was undoubtedly our weakest hour.
We might have ceased to attack you for now and we might have taken down a few targets through that but this is no small misunderstanding you'd have to clear up here.

Admiral Knight,
You have every right to be suspicious and to doubt every word coming out of my mouth right now. I'm not asking you to trust me, but at the very least just hear out what I have to say in regards to the incident and in regards to relations.
I'll be issuing notices very shortly to all the pilots on our end that you managed to name, you'll be looped in once I send it and capable of seeing for yourself. Moving on to the actual incident, I must apologize for the fact that all I have to go on are reports and command's deployment orders. Not to mention the fact that this entire incident took place before I was anywhere near the Legion. I'm not trying to justify the fact that up until recently, I wasn't fully aware of what truly took place, mostly because reports were so varied and vague it made it very difficult for me to understand what had happened, but when it occurred to me that we, as separatists, engaged other separatists, I was immediately disappointed.
I can say with certainty that the then-Lord Commander had no intention of harming your people, the launch briefing for the day in question was very clear, I managed to acquire this from the left-over files which are broad-casted over the intercom system at one of our bases of operation.
Intercom Wrote:Birds in the air, open engagement against Unioner and Naval assets in New Hampshire authorized. Repeat, only Unioner and Naval Assets.
Deployment notices like these come directly from Command, and as such Command never had any intention of harming you. It remains unclear to me why our pilots that scrambled after hearing this decided to commit what I can only label as insubordination and inflict grievous loss of life to people in the same shoes as us during our founding.
Whatever their reasons were, it'll be discovered when they're being questioned. If you'd like, I will forward you a copy of the logs that we'll have on hand after questioning each of the pilots you named. Though I was neither with the Legion nor in Office at the time this incident happened, I am now, and as such I will undertake the full responsibility of investigating it thoroughly. But in order to do that, I will need your help for multiple reasons that I'm sure you understand.
You're very correct when you say that this isn't a mere misunderstanding, this is a screw-up of the highest sort that cost people their lives. I can never undo what these pilots did that day, but at the least I can make them answer for it. I'm asking you to drop tensions and help me conduct this investigation not for the Legion's benefit, but out of respect for the people that died that day, they deserve some form of justice and I have every intention of punishing the people at fault for it.
I don't expect you to forgive or forget what happened, but I do want the opportunity to rebuild the trust that might have been, if it wasn't squandered under irresponsible and indiscriminate gunfire. I'm asking humbly and for the sake of us not martyring more of our men against one another.
I find this rather hard to believe but I'll hardly receive more than your word and the interrogation your own people will lead.
Until you send me the results my forces will stick to a non aggressive stance as long as your ships do the same. I expect to not see a disruption to our Bering operations or those in other systems in any way.
I'll await the results of this until we change our stance on your group. I hope there'll be no further reason to return to the way it was.

Admiral,
This should clear up your doubts on our commitment to ensuring some form of light is shed on the situation. The progress of these proceedings will be completely visible to not just yourself, but to all pilots of your Battlegroup. Once again, I can only reiterate both my condolences and apologies and wish that I were part of the Legion during the time of the incident so that what happened could have been prevented.
I won't be allowing any further combat between our forces, there's been enough conflict and loss for both of us. People who have suffered similar injustice should stand together, not fight. I hope in time I can mend the damage, I sincerely do.
Naturally their constant baiting and belligerence isn't being received well, nor is their continued attempts to not only endanger my Legionnaires but also Libertonian civilians that have no place in a conflict, mainly due to the fact that the Unioners are nothing more than fascists who seek to profiteer from anything they can wiggle their way into. Which is why I believe they've not helped you out of some semblance of sympathy or neighborly affection, but instead to promote regional instability so their personal smuggling operations benefit. Though their high loss of assets suggests they've been surprisingly incompetent in executing whatever it is they seem to be doing.
As someone very keen to improve relations between your Battlegroup and the Commonwealth, I thought it wise to keep you informed of this recent incident involving one of your allies, it's important that you have an idea of who your friends are and what they're attempting to do. Naturally, the arrogance of the Unioners has no bearing on my eagerness to improve our own relations with you.
I'm aware of the Unioners closeness with you and that assaulting their assets would indirectly harm you, so I would greatly appreciate if you could ask your ally to desist from such baiting of my men, for I'm afraid that one day one of my Legionnaires will oblige them and slaughter the lot of them for it, and damage to our attempts to mend this divide is something I'd like to avoid at all costs.
I hope we can resolve this issue together. For the express purpose of a speedy and mutually inclusive resolution I'm more than willing for this to be open to your High Command for complete consensus on the matter.
that collection of messages was a rather annoying way to spend time. I hope one can related it to an abuse of alcohol. Something a person in a leadership position ought to have under control. Guess they lack quite a bit of this.
The Unioners are a bit out of bounds after their recent set backs and it is more than a mere nuisance at this moment. Nothing that we shouldn't be able to handle.
Their unprofessional behavior is becoming a problem for us though so we might have to slow them down in that regard. I am sure you won't mind that.

Admiral,
I've been honest with you so far, no reason for that to change. I have no intention of allowing the unioners any form of a foothold on the Libertonian side of the border, they claim themselves to be very similar to us, yet a host of differences exists. I have no plans for the unioners, I want them out of the picture, they have no sense of dignity and show no compassion for the average man, there's simply no way for us to work around that. The unioners will have to remember that they aren't welcome in Liberty.
I do have a proposition for you however.
Provided you are willing to take this next step with cementing our relations, I must present to you two terms on behalf of the commonwealth. These are as follows.
Firstly, the unioners taint your image as a battlegroup that's fighting to free Liberty from alien corruption, only to seemingly align with a human form of corruption in the fascists. Your ideals and goals could not be any different, it's time that their continued misbehavior, greed and imperialism saw consequence. Distance yourself from them and seek independence, do not allow their cold hearted political rhetoric to turn your people, whom I've come to respect, into tools for their own gains. I'm sure even now they plot of contingencies of how to "handle" you, should you grow too strong for them to manipulate.
Secondly and lastly, there cannot be any scope of violence against non-combatants in Liberty. Let the citizens of Liberty come to appreciate your struggle, not dread the sight of your ships. You are not the Republic that forced your hand, you can be better. It would be a slap across the Republic's face the day you protect its people better than the police or the Navy themselves.
With those terms fulfilled you will not just have our forces on trustworthy terms once more, but I'll also have my legionaries assist you against any and all mutual threats that you might incur within Liberty. I also believe I promised one of your pilots a guardian, I intend to keep my word.
I hope you find all that I've said reasonable, please feel free to discuss any aspect of all that I have just mentioned. It's important that we both don't just speak, but also listen to one another. I realise my proposition of distancing yourself from the unioners may seem sudden, but give yourself a moment to consider every word I've ever said to you, you'll find reason within.
Be safe and vigilant, Admiral. I hope to one day address you like a friend.
