In my opinion, FA in Leeds is about as ooRP as Outcasts in Gamma. If you want to contest both, contest both, but they're darn similar. FA are Samura's pawns, if the Kusari government put pressure on Samura to show their cooperation in the war effort, they would send their goons to a sign of good faith. Makes sense to me.
Quote:There is nothing wrong w/ going outside to pick a fight. (in a manner of speaking)
If the sole intent is simply to 'pick a fight', then yes, it is wrong.
People in the freelancer universe dont go looking for fights without reason. The farmer's alliance gains nothing by attacking bretonia - it doesnt fit their faction's overall agenda in the least.
Corsairs in new york - they have absolutely no reason to be there other than being suicidal or trying to 'pick a fight' (aka, pvp whore). They have no friendly bases in any part of liberty, especially the core system of the house.
Outcasts in Gamma?... they might have a reason to be there due to the outcast/corsair war... but think hard on the situation. Outcasts have to travel through around a dozen systems of very much hostile space to even get to gamma, likewise for corsairs going to alpha - and that's assuming either faction even KNOWS where the other faction's home is (which they probably dont).
' Wrote:That's the point, they shouldnt have done it.
I mean, it's far out of my area, so I really dont care on a personal basis...
but farmer's alliance in bretonia are WAY out of their zone of influence with no real reason other than "lol, war".
If you guys want to attack bretonia, do it on kusari naval forces characters, not farmers. As it stands you gain NOTHING from attacking bretonia, and you probably risk losing a large portion of your ships and resources attempting such an attack.
If it helps, think of it like the attack on the 1972 Olympics in Munich by the Palestinians (Bad Image for us, I know, but it makes a lot of sense).
If we do something in Bretonia, be it assisting the KNF, raiding Planet Leeds, or whatever, we gain propaganda for our fight against foreigners in Kyushu. If we never do it, no one outside Kusari will even know we exist (And they don't, just look at the Diamond-Niobium Traders), which means we get no sympathy, and no support from anyone that has a say in anything that we're fighting against.
If we do something in Kyushu, it is no different. It is everyday life there. Actions there don't make headlines, it's old news. If we do something in Bretonia, we get headlines, it is important news. If we do something in Kyushu, no one will know who we are, or what we stand for. If we do something in Bretonia, all of Sirius will hear about us and know what we are doing.
I could understand such adamant opposition to our going there if we were there everyday, but we're not there everyday, or not even every so often, we're just there every once in a blue moon, and those don't come by very much...
Hope that helps a little bit.

Stick to your zone of influence people.
Actually they have to travel through one and exactly one hostile controlled system, and that system has an enforced cease fire on it (the AW will kill you if you shoot there). Omicron Eta much? It links from Alpha to Eta, the warzone, from there to Theta, cease-fire zone, and from there to Gamma. I count one warzone (which *can* be broken through, read the infocard on the minefield) and nothing else stopping them from getting to the outer gas cloud in Gamma, and 5k from there you can see Crete. Granted, you'll have one hellish time doing anything effective there, but you can get to Gamma at the very least. And yes, they know where each other's home bases are, the Corsairs raided Alpha (almost got to Malta) once before, and the Outcasts have found out Gamma through the Hessians if I'm not mistaken (warzone system links to Gamma, right next to a Freeport). And there are regular events that lead into the homesystems, although admittedly a lot of them occur in Eta.
So yes, Outcasts can be in Gamma. They shouldn't do it regularly, but they can. Same for FA in Leeds; not on a regular basis, but as a retaliatory strike or a PR stunt to gain popularity in Kusari (Think: headlines read about FA agents breaking through Bretonian defenses, FA backed politicians shoot up five percent in polls. EDIT: Baconsoda, great minds think alike.) it seems reasonable.
And Zelot, you spelled Bretonia wrong in the thread title. If you are going to invade someplace other than Czechoslovakia, you should probably know how to spell it.

Hey, I don't oppose you! :P
I see nothing wrong with this. It's a bunch of paramilitary corporate goons sent out by an isolationist government at war with another nation. Nothing wrong with that, and it has the added bonus of getting more action inside of Bretonia.

Ever see the movie 'Munich'?
Some Israeli athletes were blown to smithereens at the olympics in the early 70's...the Israeli gov't sent a small posse into Germany, & they got their revenge one by one.
& how boring of a movie would 'Smokey & the Bandit' be if Beauford T. Justice stopped chasing the bootlegger & the Bandit once they crossed the state line?
::edit- heh, Baconsoda beat me to the olympic analogy...get outta my head dude!::
Well, AFA is based on FA, but they have a different roleplay. Just sticking to the extremely limited background of smaller NPC factions will be a quick death of same player factions. Player have the advantage to the entities in developing their roleplay. There is more than simple mathmatics. Of course the way has to be choosen carefully.
Next time AFA could make some propaganda by sharing real food and oxygen to the sick world of Leeds. This will convince the people to stand up against BMM and the Queen. "Fresh air and clean water for Leeds"!:D
Corsairs: "OH! OH! I have teh reezons cuz we no liek teh rog'z."
Rogues: "The... Outcasts told us so?"
Now,
Farmers: "We're going to blast millions of credits on fuel and these ever-popular Eagles of ours assaulting people who we really don't care about. Actually, in our absence, 30,000 crates of Synth probably came about from Liberty. Oh well... We certainly have no reason whatsoever to take the snake by its head. Perhaps it's shed skin? Yes, that'll be a good place to start! To Bretonia!"
No reason. Whatsoever.
This isn't the French Resistance we're talking about here. It's Farmers who want their jobs and so they batter back Synth Foods. Thats it. Leave national enemies to the military, leave personal vendettas to themselves. The only reason they're allied with the KNF is because they share a dislike for foreigners. How would you feel if you were a marine in Vietnam and some kid with an AK-47 came up, "I HELP YOU, SOLDIER MAN, YES?!"
And you're like, "What? No! Back off, go away, kid!"
He's like, "NO! I help you beat back the insugents! Watch this, I fire good now, see?" *POW POW!*

The next time someone tells me that Synth Foods is the only thing that I should worry about when playing the FA, I am going to jump through the internet and hit them.....
We are fighting all foreigners, not just Synth Foods.....
EDIT: Bolded for emphasis...
