To whom this may concern.
I send this message to thank you, on the part of a colleague of mine, for the offer of an escort not too long ago. One of my transports, the then-Hospitaliano captained by said colleague and his crew, had occasion to come across one of your vessels between Texas and Bering on a routine supply run. Your man offered protection in this instance for the route- and while not required, this instilled in my colleague Mr.Santana and much of the Directorate's leadership as a whole a curiosity as to where precisely your organization and mine stand presently.
Malta and the Unioners haven't exactly had a Libertonian-Bretonian relationship if you take my meaning, but your pilot seemed in this particular instance willing to put in the effort to amend this - something for which my superiors were grateful for. Grateful enough in fact to have the matter brought to my attention, and given my knowledge of the region, I've been asked to reach out and offer an olive-branch of a kind.
I've attached below a copy of the report that was on my desk this morning just so that everyone involved is on the same page. Can we come to expect more of this behavior from your people in the future?
Return #414b Involved a brief chat with some engineers on Beaumont about a possible fix to our problematic #1 Engine- no such luck I'm afraid. Afterwards my XO headed the launch operation while I got some coffee. An hour or so later on the far side of Texas, we ran into a Unioner vessel- marked UN|Hydra.
We managed to evade cruise interdiction for a while before arriving at Freeport 2-- we held there for a few minutes to see if he'd continue his pursuit. Turns out he was interested enough to follow so, we had a brief exchange. There was an offer for an escort through Rheinland space but suspecting an attempt to get us away from safety and blow our hold open- I refused. A bit of chatting later and we went our separate ways unscathed, and our run went otherwise uneventful.
[10.03.2018 05:02:35] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Something I can help you with amico?
[10.03.2018 05:02:53] UN|Hydra: ?: Yeah I would like to know what you do here.
[10.03.2018 05:03:57] UN|Hydra: ?: It isnt common to your kind here
[10.03.2018 05:04:08] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: just hauling some cargo home amico
[10.03.2018 05:04:28] UN|Hydra: ?: Would you please hold on for a moment ?
[10.03.2018 05:04:39] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Bit on a time crunch though so, pardon my terseness
[10.03.2018 05:05:52] UN|Hydra: ?: Home heh ?
[10.03.2018 05:06:10] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Malta, if you must know. Figured that'd be obvious amico.
[10.03.2018 05:06:36] UN|Hydra: ?: So why you sit here ? I thought your time is limited ?
[10.03.2018 05:07:06] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Security more than anything. Safety is preferred over time in this instance.
[10.03.2018 05:07:47] UN|Hydra: ?: So Marly...let me see..over Liberty i guess ?
[10.03.2018 05:07:58] UN|Hydra: ?: Or over Rheinland ?
[10.03.2018 05:08:23] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: I beg your pardon?
[10.03.2018 05:09:03] UN|Hydra: ?: You wanted to head for Malta, *sighs* if you go through Rheinland i could offer you a escort.
[10.03.2018 05:09:56] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: *chuckles* I'd appreciate it amico but I think I'll pass this run. Can't really justify the added expenses to my---
[10.03.2018 05:10:00] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: superiors.
[10.03.2018 05:10:20] UN|Hydra: ?: Oh no worries, it wouldn't cost you anything.
[10.03.2018 05:10:28] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Besides, I've got friends around Rheinland that'd prefer to not see your kind. Wouldn't want that causing issues.
[10.03.2018 05:10:52] UN|Hydra: ?: Same for me , wich friends ?
[10.03.2018 05:11:10] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Ones that prefer to remain anonymous
[10.03.2018 05:11:40] UN|Hydra: ?: Oh I think there aren't much choises. *laughs*
[10.03.2018 05:12:26] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: Draw what conclusions you like amico.
[10.03.2018 05:12:57] UN|Hydra: ?: Well I will. Safe skies then.
[10.03.2018 05:13:16] NC-ET-Hospitaliano: Javier: To you as well, I suppose.
Until next shipment: Javier out.

Guten Tag Mister Callahan,
I have met one of your pilots yesterday at Freeport 2, the conversation I had with this pilot was quite interesting. After consulting with my high command I can assure you that a cooperation between our two organisations is our common interest. So you can count with further offers like the one our pilot made to your transport the other day, the underworld profits from collaberation and not from competition. Too much competition is not good for buisness as it puts too many stones in your way to make it truely profitable.
On another note, it was asked by the National Council is on rather uncertain terms with us. As far as I have been informed it goes back to a request when the National Council asked us to use one of our very limited NEMP weapons against the Corsairs, the Arbeitsdirektor had to reject this since it was both unreasonable and against our neutrality in the Hispanic civil war. We simply do not want to interfer with the politics of others, Malta is the smith of their own destiny.
I hope that I was able to clearify this matter for you and your organisation and am for further questions avaible.
Kind regards,
Alise von Ravensberg,
The Countess of Ravensberg.

Miss Alise von Ravensberg,
I'm afraid that I must ask your people to exercise patience when it comes to the subject of our.. breathren - the Nationals. Their pointless posturing and fruitless, endless meetings of their respective Dons leaves them in a constant cycle of bureaucracy, from what we gather. They have their issues but so far they've managed to largely stay out of the way of our operations, and even be of help on rare occasions- so I would ask you not let their narrow-mindedness inhibit our ability to conduct business.
Furthermore, as to your neutrality: Given your people's disposition, location, and your stance on local affairs, I do believe we can be understanding in this matter. The Nationals may prefer to take a far less... flexible stance in this matter but to put it as absolutely simply as possible: their goals are not our goals, and our friends don't have to be theirs.
Now, there is a proposal waiting in the wings for your organization from the tops of the Directorate, but before we go any further in discussions, I need to make one thing very clear:
Malta is a prospering and flourishing nation, one that has business in just about every corner of Sirius and even Gallia on occasion. That business is largely bound to the sale and transportation of The Orange Dream - Cardamine. Before we even begin to fully engage in any form of cooperation, I need assurance that under no circumstances will your vessels inhibit its flow: no Amalfi or otherwise affiliated ships carrying Cardamine are to come under fire for their cargo.
Friendships such as these require trust, and at present this is not something we're absolutely certain we can trust from your specific organization. If you can give me your people's word on this, then I do believe there is a very bright future for the both of our groups.

Mister Callahan,
First of all, we are glad that the Direcorate understands our point in this conflict and is not, I will use your own words here, as narrow minded as the National Council. This is already a big step into the right direction.
Secondly we are very well aware of Malta´s dealings with this substance and furhtermore we are the only Rheinlandic organisation which tolerates its use and distribution within Rheinland itself. Each individual has the freedom to do what they want with their body as long as they are prepared to face the consequences of possible wrong decisions.
As such I can guarantee you and your organisation, that every Directorate vessel or generally spoken Maltese vessel carrying Cardamine through our space will not be shot upon by the Union. Also I am offering you the possibility of our protection, we have many patrols within Rheinland space and I am sure they could help your transports out by offering that little bit of extra security all of us prefer.
Kind regards,
Alise von Ravensberg,
The Countess of Ravensberg.

Miss Alise von Ravensberg,
I must ask that you pardon my tardiness in response: I've had a bit of a situation on my hands that's taken a bit of my attention away from some of our pressing affairs.
Regardless: while I'd love to have taken your prior suggestion of past friendship at face-value, we live in a time of uncertainty my friend. These shipments have lives depending on them in most cases; interference in their routes is treated with the utmost scrutiny up sector-north. I needed to come back to my superiors with a guarantee and now that I have one, we can press on to more pleasant matters.
A number of my recon pilots and a handful of merchants on Valetta tell me that your organization has located a source of some rather interesting cargo: salvage, from military-grade vessels including in-tact weapon components and various other ends of the sort. Given Malta's position as combatants in more conflicts that I'm willing to admit at this stage, it should be obvious as to why such components would be of interest to us.
What you have is something of great value to the Maltese Nation, and our reciprocation is the Dream. We offer in return our friendship and our business- everyone profits, everyone wins, and we all go home richer and more well equipped and supplied in the end. If this is a deal your people are interested in, then I'd like to arrange for one of our transports to rendezvous with a number of yours to acquire a number of pallets of your 'salvage' preemptively. This is less for the Nacione as a whole, but specifically for Amalfi's interests, to better get a sample of what we're dealing with. At present, I'm open to suggestions for specifics on dates and location.
Our people have a prosperous future ahead of us, miss von Ravensberg. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Mister Callahan,
I am very sorry that my reply took it´s time but as luck has it I got assigned a new field of operation and rank, I am still in the progress of restructering everything in this area and so am very busy but I was delighted to meet you in Alpha even if it was only for a short time.
We hope that the salvages we delivered are going to be put to good use by you and your people, this is the beginning of a good cooperation between our organisations. From one of my subordinates I heard that two of your transports were also filled, I have not yet recieved confirmation on if the two safely returned back home but I really hope so.
Kind regards,

Miss Alise von Ravensberg,
I ask that you forgive my inability to stick around that day- I was due Valetta-side for a briefing and the Mgarr was due for an inspection, else our chat could have continued. Having said that, I'm surprised to have seen your vessels so far north- your presence in Alpha was a surprising one; that sort of run seemed far more fit for an intermediary group than your own people. I'm glad to see your people are either prospering enough to be able to field your own haulers, or dedicated enough to this alliance to see fit to ensure the cargo's safekeeping - either one is a positive step.
As for our transports: Mister Santana of the Montecristo and its crew arrived safely at Valetta not long after you sent them on their way, and I've been told the Giudecca will be joining us soon right after it handles some unrelated business down liberty-side.
Finally: should any one of your transports in-bound for maltese territory come under fire near our directly controlled territory, you're free to call on our vessels: we surely appreciate the supplies and have ships stationed all across the Sigmas and Maltese Omicrons capable of providing assistance. Should it ever be required, all your people need to is ask.
It's been a pleasure miss von Ravensberg. Our ability to cooperate is paramount to this alliance and your organization's actions these past few weeks has impressed not only the Directorate, and the Amalfi Union- but Malta overall as well.
