Estimated diplomats, engineers and colleagues from Orbital Spa and Cruise, I come to you bearing a proposal of personal nature - and a job that I would rather not have to trust anyone else to do.

My name is Allan Brahms, and I have recently begun to work with The Seraphim, a group dedicated to the welfare of humankind in Sirius, wherever they might be. Since we tend to people in dire need of assistance, we have to trust and employ the safest, most comfortable and clean vessels - an area I know far too well it is within your domain.

At this time, I intend to build two ships made available on the civilian market - but also extensively modify their interiors - which is why this communication is needed. It is of my belief that prioritizing areas with life-support and rerouting power from unused systems will allow me to better tend to these people.

Although I would enjoy the company during the whole project, at least a guiding hand is asked during the beginning of this project - which components should be prioritized, preferred shipyards to be used, experienced personnel and so on. Compensation for experts than can provide assistance - well as the participation on my part during the shipping process - can surely be expected.

However as a Sirius wide company we are also dedicated to providing assistance during humanitarian disasters. In the past we have ferried refugees and provided aid runs to planets such as Crete during times of food shortages.

Therefore your endeavour strikes an accord with our company ethos and we will be more than happy to provide whatever assistance our engineers can provide, especially concerning a number of vessels dedicated to the transport of people.

Dear Mr Brahms,
I have some news regarding our last conversation. I regret to inform you that our engineers are currently working flat out refitting a number of Enterprise class luxury liners. This process is marked for completion soon but there is no guaranteed date when they may be free to assist you physically.

However I have located an old Bretonia Royal Cruise Liner, the OSC|Jura. She was marked for refitting but after work began it became apparent it would be uneconomical to return her to the condition OSC requires of our vessels. She was recently towed to Planet Pittsburgh awaiting decommissioning.

OSC would be more than happy to donate this vessel to your cause. I have been informed by our engineers that she would meet your requirements and in fact be preferable compared to the Enterprise class vessels as she has a slightly thicker hull, perfect for navigating the further reaches of Sirius. She is also in a “blank canvass” state regarding her interior giving you the opportunity to prioritise elements such as medical facilities.

I have paused the decommissioning process for a limited period only, so if you decide this vessel would be useful to you please let me know shortly. If that is the case OSC will deliver her to any location, however she has no offensive or defensive weaponry and would require and escort but details …. Details …

This is certainly unanticipated. I will contact the other Seraphim about the matter immediately, you should expect a reply following this quite soon.

For the time being I will state that while I am certainly flattered by the offer it might be a little too much for me. Personally, the objective is not exactly to build a hospital ship, but a lighter emergency transport.

Regarding the amount of people to transport comfortably in such a transport would be in a far smaller number, yes - families and crews in immediate need for extraction - but my duties also require the transportation of food, supplies and other demands that require a faster and more discrete ship to handle and maintain.

A blueprint out of the civilian market, for instance, along the lines of the Serenity model, would be more suitable - hence the need for modifications.

I will consider your offer, however, and shall return shortly with the official answer.

I have hear word of my peers on last hours and - unfortunately - it was reaffirmed that we simply do not have the resources to upkeep such a magnificent vessel. I hope you'll understand that, even though I am sure the offer is made in good faith, we will have to turn it down.
