How to make good, or at least entertaining, RP in one easy step:

• Ask yourself "What would a rational person do in this situation?" then have your char do the complete opposite.
  
• This isn't a trolling suggestion; everyone acting like a completely sane person gets stale very quickly, so having oddball chars keeps things fun.
