Is a bug in Freelancer that allows someone to exploit game mechanics an exploit that is enabled by Digital Anvil? Or is it an exploit caused by a bug that needs to be patched?
More like, if Disco devs added a CD that has 5000 range and it has been so for 5 years, you wouldn't come after those five years to claim using such CD is an exploit.
While I agree with Antonio that playing around the rules to get engagement right that otherwise is not available, can be interpreted as low form, it is currently allowed by the staff itself and knowing how staff has changing interpretation on the rules, it's rather bad for players who are trying to push something out of the ordinary.

The Rules Wrote:11. Any freelancer or BHG individual or group may only collect on a bounty which that person or group has issued, sponsored or funded (fully or partly) so long as it is open to others to collect. All non-generic factions may sponsor internal bounties that are only open to members of the player or NPC faction.
This is the rule that implies "Freelancer ID can post bounties". When the Forlorn| ID existed, it had a specific provision in it that said the character could not post bounties. Therefore, unless stated otherwise, any character can post a bounty.
I don't have the full picture of what's going on between THP and Ouroboros but...

As I understood it (and I don't think the Bounty rules are easy to understand in their current form... like... at all), this sentence means that a player who posted a bounty on their Gateway char, for example, must leave that bounty open to chars that are not his own Freelancer or BHG chars, if he wishes to be able to claim the bounty on his own BHG or Freelancer chars.
It doesn't mean he can bounty anyone using his Freelancer or BHG chars as long as he leaves it open for someone else. The wording "that person" is supposed to mean "that player", not "that BHG or Freelancer character".
I guess what it also implies is that a player can bounty a pirate as a Gateway transport captain, and leave that bounty open exclusively to that players own Gateway VHF pilot (but not his Freelance VHF pilot), as long as that's a different character.
Yeah, Bounty rules are kinda messy, probably because they were partly made up by admins as they went along, to suit what ever they needed at the time. They could do with an overhaul that simplifies them and makes them easier to understand.

Freelancer ID is a generic ID, so this second sentence wouldnt apply to Freelancer ID. Forlorn was a non generic-ID.

You would think that someone who had been previously sanctioned for posting a bounty with one faction to claim it with another would be more cautious about inventing rules out of the absence of rules that allows his own group to post and claim their own bounty on a POB. Whatever your justification, you look to be nothing more than, as they say in WH40k, That Guy. Well done.

I'm dying of Polstari Syndrome...
Nooooooooooo!
And the bounty in question was literally posted mid-encounter. That is what everyone is forgetting. Posting a bounty on one of your chars for another of your chars to claim is fine. Posting a bounty from one of your chars for another of your chars - who happen to be staring down the party in question at the time, is not cool, or so I have been told.
