Being new to Discovery I wanted to get an id that would have a wide zone of influence so that I could see Sirius and keep in RP. Am I right in thinking that Interspace Commerce has a broad ZOI? How broad?
For reference, I am RPing an investment banker who is researching new trade routes. I explore several systems, landing on every friendly base and proceed to try out a new trade route a couple of times. I am looking for non-orthodox, low-risk routes to diversify our clients portfolios.
I am also worried about the loadout of my ship. I assumed that I could only buy civilian ships and civilian guns, is that right? If so, does anyone have any hints on where to find some level 5 civilian turrets?
Interspace appears in every house, however, they don't have much of a presence apart from the Waterloo, Bonn, Roppongi and Newark stations. They have no npcs in space, nor do they produce or sell commodities.
Honestly, a trader ID would probably suit you more. Interspace has its own roleplay, and it differs from your (interesting sounding) roleplay. People might complain about the trader ID, but it's the only solution for those RPing corporate figures who don't belong to the NPC factions.
If you have a ship with a transport shield or above, you can get Transport Turrets (rank 1-4). Class 7 turrets, good damage and range... Perfect for any well-funded trading vessel.
The thing is, there aren't really any like that. Apart from Zoners...
However, with the Trader ID, you can roleplay as a company of your creation. Sure, make a small-time supplier of stations across Sirius (example). As long as you can roleplay it well, nobody should have any troubles with you.
The IND do. But they aren't really pure IC.
IC goes all the way out to the Borderworlds, so if you're only going into friendly systems/bases, IC will work just fine for you.
